It took me a long time to get comfortable with the idea of colored glass. I think maybe I’d grown too accustomed to the old-fashioned look of my mother’s crystal and glass trinkets — not really the look I want for my own home. I just didn’t see it as useful or necessary. Seems to me like having an empty glass bowl on a table is just an invitation for the kids to knock it over.
If I’m going to buy decorative housewares made of glass, I want to be able to use them, too. These Handmade Recycled Glass Hurricanes may be just what I’m looking for. They are colorful, which I love because they’ll create an intimate glow when used with a lit pillar candle. I also love the fact that they are large enough to fit said candle comfortably, so there will be no worry about wax spilling over the edges. They could also work double duty for the display of some organic flowers. Sounds like my kind of glass :
Why It’s Green:

I love colored glass. I think it’s really pretty, especially when there is light of some sort shining through it (sunlight, candlelight). Those are gorgeous

These are very pretty but I can’t have anything pretty sitting out on my table. I have a 65 lb lab dog that thinks she is a cat and gets on top of the table. It drives me crazy because I want to have these types of nice things and the always end up broken.

These would look nice on my mantle! My cats haven’t figured out how to get up there yet.
@Chris I know! I can picture candlelight shining through these babies right now
@Nina I would suggest putting them up higher than a table, but if there’s one thing I know about pets, its that they find their way to the strangest spots. I’ve seen a cat climb to the space above kitchen cabinets. How he got up there, I have no idea, but he did. Maybe one of these days, they’ll make unbreakable glass…or not
