Taking Nature Outdoors: Thomasville Nature’s Retreat 7-Piece Seating Set

Thomasville Nature\'s Retreat 7-Piece Seating Set

Having been born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands, I am very much a summertime type of girl. I love the warm weather, sunshine and opportunities to go swimming and wear flip flops every day. That said, moving to the states nearly 10 years ago made me appreciate the changing seasons. When you grow up in a place that’s 80 degrees all year round and no real seasons, watching the leaves change colors as fall approaches is a great experience. The other thing I love about the transition from summer to fall: sales on seasonal items.

My husband and I have always found ourselves searching for patio furniture at the beginning of fall. That has meant one of two things: Either there’s none left to buy at the stores, or the stuff we find is steeply discounted. After all, whoc wants to sit outside in 40 degree weather?

This awesome patio set from Thomasville isn’t quite in the bargain bin yet, but at $150 less than its original price, it’s getting there. The Nature’s Retreat 7-Piece Seating Set is made of FSC-certified eucalyptus wood frames, partially satisfying my desire for green options. I wish the fabric and cushion choices were organic or made of natural materials. But I understand that with outdoor furniture, I’ll have to settle for a balance between sustainability and durability.

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of fast-growing, FSC-certified eucalyptus wood

Price: $749.25 (down from $999.99)

I purchased this set last year, and it now looks sub-par. The table and each chair are now cracked and/or peeling. Such a waste of money. I truly expected more given the Thomasville brand name. Consider carefully before purchasing!
