A Dash of Tradition: Burma Table Lamp

by jennae on October 2, 2008

Burma Table Lamp House hunting is one of my husband and my favorite hobbies, even when we’re not in the market. There are tons of new subdivisions in metro Atlanta, and most of the homes are open during the daytime. We like to go in and imagine what it would look like if we lived there. The state of the housing market, however, means that even houses we looked at months and even years ago are still unsold. For us, this means that million dollar homes we once would’ve had to call a Realtor to see are now being left open as well.

One thing that’s present in a lot of the high-end homes around here is ornate woodwork. Kitchen cabinets and crown molding featuring beautiful hand-cut designs aren’t hard to find. But for me, the contemporary decorator extraordinaire (yeah, right), all those ornate carvings are too much. This Burma Table Lamp is just the amount to keep my desire for fancy features at bay without making me feel like my home is a museum. The price, however, reminds me that million-dollar living doesn’t come cheap. If I’m going to spend this much on a lamp, I think I’d be better off sticking to the clean, modern lines I love so much.

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of sustainable mango wood

Price: $382

Is this lamp too traditional for your decorating style or is it right up your alley? Leave a comment and let me know!
