Green Rooms in a Box — Series Logo

Green Rooms in a Box series: Vibrant, Luxurious Bedroom on a Dream Budget*Green Rooms in a Box series: Vintage Mod Dining Room Under $5000*Green Rooms in a Box series: Modern Boy's Nursery Under $2500

The Green Rooms in a Box series has been very well-received, with lots of readers expressing their admiration for it. Though it can be time consuming to find all the products to go into a room that is all green, I love doing it. So I want to challenge myself and reward my awesome, loyal readers at the same time. Here goes nothing:

Win your own Green Room in a Box!

I’m going to create an eco-friendly room plan for one lucky reader. To make it clear, you’ll be winning the room design plan — not the products to go in it.  I’ll do any room you want: living room, bedroom, office, playroom…whatever. I’ll work within the budget you set, and it can be a real budget or an imaginary one. To be fair, realize that if your budget is very low, your room will consist of reusing many of your current furnishings or shopping on Craigslist. I’ll do my best to stay true to your design preferences. You like shabby chic? I’ll honor it. Ultra contemporary? I’ll honor it. Here’s your chance to have the eco-friendly room of your dreams designed.

So how do you enter? This giveaway will be a little different from all my others. Instead of entering all subscribers, only commenters will be entered. That said, there’s still several ways to enter. Please be sure to leave a separate comment for each entry:

  1. Leave a comment about what room you want to have designed and why. Tell me a little bit about your budget (real or imaginary) and style. If you’re a bit indecisive, don’t worry. If you are the winner, you can feel free to ask for something different than what you said in your comment.
  2. If you haven’t already, sign up for Green Your Decor’s email updates by 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, October 17, 2008. You must verify your email subscription to be eligible. After you sign up, FeedBurner will send you a verification email. Please do not ignore it — your entry will be invalid if you do not verify. All current subscribers are eligible to win. Please leave a separate comment letting me know you’re an email subscriber.
  3. If you’d prefer to receive your updates via RSS, sign up for the GYD feed. Then please leave a comment letting me know that you’ve done so, and be sure to include your email address. RSS subscribers are anonymous otherwise.
  4. Blog about GreenYourDecor.com and post a link to your blog entry here in a separate comment.
  5. Stumble or give a thumbs up to any page at GreenYourDecor.com via StumbleUpon and post a link to your SU profile to verify your thumbs up in a separate comment.
  6. Fave Green Your Decor on Technorati. Then come back here and leave a comment with your Technorati user name so I can verify it.
  7. Tweet a link to Green Your Decor or this contest (it can be a tiny URL) and post a link to your twitter page or directly to the tweet in a separate comment.

So that means every participant can receive up to 7 entries. You have until 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, October 17, 2008, to enter. The prize will be delivered electronically, so entries from all over the world are welcome. A winner will be chosen via Random.org and contacted via email. The winner’s room will be posted here at Green Your Decor. Good luck everyone!

I would love to re-design my daughters room. She’s a toddler, and has never really had a proper nursery. Just mix and match items. I would probably want to stick with my real budget, which is low. Re-use items or stuff from craigslist. We love shabby chic. Great giveaway, thanks!

I would love to redesign my bedroom, my style is pretty Oriental inspired, I like my stuff to be rather plain but functional and still pleasing to the eye.

As much as I’d LOVE to see what design you would come up with for me, I’m not entering b/c that just seems unfair, being a designer myself. Although I DO have to say that sometimes designing your own stuff is the hardest of all! haha.

That being said, I just want to tell you what a GREAT idea this is and I’m looking forward to seeing the end results!

You are for sure one of my all time fave green interior gal colleagues! WOOT WOOT!

My grandkids playroom. It was my son’s room till he moved out. About a day later it became known as the “Dora Room”. It was painted Troll Gold from the Dora and Diego collection. Now my grandson is 4 1/2 and grandaughter almost 6. They both like to dress up in their dozens of costumes. They also love to draw, paint, color and build anything they can think of. There is a futon, a Mickey Mouse Desk and plastic table and chairs for tea parties. Nothing matches. I would love something colorful with lots of storage and play areas. Especially for their play clothes and art supplies.

I would love help with our study/playroom. I have a pretty low budget, but want it to be a fun, kid-friendly room that will help us get through our snowy winters!!

Our screen porch, which currently has not one scrap of screening in it. Currently I have no budget to work on this project. The least I would like to do is have it screened, painted from top to bottom and add ceiling fan fixture. Might I begin to dream I would love to have it entirely enclosed in glass. The backside has a lovely wooded view. I would like to have a cabana like style with simple clean lines. Casual dining, place to lounge, maybe a hammock. On one end I would like to have a wall to wall box window seat with storage underneath and loose pillows on top. In general a sort of a family room for relaxing, dining, entertaining, reading and just a nice place to hang out. Would be enjoyed by ages 3 to 80+. Oh and lots of plants too, maybe a potting bench. While I’m dreaming here, a sink would be a real luxury.

Since I don’t have a blog, I guess this is the last entry I can get. It wouldn’t be fair to make a blog just to enter giveaways. I wouldn’t know how to start or what to say anyway. Well good luck all. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I’d like to see what I can do without buying anything new…either reusing what I already have, or buying used. Redoing my office would be great, but I’m very open to any room. Even the outdoors!

OMG I would love to win this! My bf just got a promotion and in a few months, we’re moving to a highrise I’ve been pining for since we moved here two years ago. I’m getting ALL NEW furniture for ALL ROOMS and it’s so overwhelming that I’m feel physically ill and mentally exhausted looking over every thing.

There is no budget, but I don’t want any pieces (or sets of pieces such as a dining room table/chairs) to be over $1500. I’m buying pieces as I save for them, so there’s no budget except for that.

The “room” I would pick for you is my living/dining room. I need bar stools, living room group, small two-person (2-4 chairs) dining group, and a desk. I need rugs, as the entire floor is hardwood and it doesn’t feel very cozy!

My style is very casual-contemporary and stylish. I love anything tufted, love leather (only because I have two cats who track litter dust all over anything that doesn’t allow it to be easily swept away), argyle prints, deep purples, upholstered furniture, and magazine-worthy perfection. I don’t ask much. :) I dislike wood that looks like wood (especially medium brown and unfinished brown), but I don’t mind really light wood like without a lot of grain, really dark wood like wenge, and bamboo (which isn’t wood, but still). I very much dislike anything mid-century modern unless it matches the above criteria; I don’t want to live in a dorm room!

There are pictures and a virtual tour available and I will take better pictures for you later (if I win, of course):
http://tours.tourfactory.com/tours/tour.asp?t=328152

I REALLY HOPE I WIN! If I don’t, can you give me the contact info of an affordable decorator?? :)

P.S. the virtual tour doesn’t seem to be working now, but it usually does work. If it’s not working you can see a few pictures here: http://www.theclassenokc.com/Default.aspx?p=15213

I bought a handyman special 5 years ago without a handyman and I can’t seem to bring all of the elements together. I just want something welcoming and simple. I need to replace the floor very soon but I can’t find a solution that is 1) sustainable 2) durable {I have dogs!} and 3)affordable. The old wall to wall carpeting must GO!

I not only want everything to be green (sustainable and low VOC) but I want it to feel green too. I love natural materials, but I’m looking for something that will last. The most important room is my living room which is also the entry room. Space is also a concern since the room is not large.

I would love to redo any room in our house green. Our goal is eventually to do the whole house, but we gotta start somewhere right? Well I think if we were to pick one room it would be our kitchen I think. We have about $10,000 saved for remodeling. We love the modern style, also anything with the bamboo or wood look to it!

I would love to have a luxury bathroom. A huge soaking tub and a mod new shower with multiple shower heads. Modern sleek lines. All white like a spa, but with natural elements like bamboo and green accents. Plants and candles too. Would love to have all or mostly natural eco-friendly products, but I have no idea what kind of budget that would entail.

Because we just re-designed our living room, I would love to have my boyfriend and my’s bedroom be next! From what I have been searching online, my ideal budget would be about $3000 – enough for a new bed frame, new sheets and comforter cover, some wall art, and hopefully eco-friendly bamboo flooring. We also would love to update our bookcases and TV stand. He loves black, but hopefully I could convince him to encorporate some pink! :-)

I would probably have you redesign one of our living areas. In one, we have 16,363 books and a stupid layout to deal with, and in the other, we have blah. Wow, I sound so positive. :-)

I sure would like to redo my room. I’ve spent everything I have on doing my son’s room (which he doesn’t even sleep in!) and I’m still stuck with my old, cheapo, mismatched stuff. If I could just get new pillows I would be happy. My old pillows are about as plush and cushy as my sheets. I really have been craving some organic wool pillows, but they’re so expensive. I could probably afford $800, tops. I don’t know what my style is. Sometimes I like earth tones and nature inspired looks, other times I like bright and exotic looks, and other times clean and modern. What do you get if you mix all those elements?
