I have been using this chair for about 3 months now and I have been anything but impressed. First of all the the back tension is only designed for light people. Second, the padding is subpar. Third, the live lumbar support never stays in place. Fourth, and the most annoying feature is that this chair and all the other ones around me have starting squeaking within the first couple weeks of having it.

I am excited to read your review. PBI in Fresno is a showroom that specializes in Steelcase. Due to back issues and the recommendations of an ergo analysis, my company has just ordered me an Amia. Until it comes in, PBI will let me use a Think, also a Steelcase chair. I'll post again after a few months of using the Amia.

Have had my Amia now for two weeks, and like it very much. A few drawbacks -- the main one is that there's not enough upper back support. It's better than a Herman Miller Aeron in this regard, but not as good as the Steelcase Leap.

Other than that, it's very nice. The most interesting thing is the way it soundly beats the Aeron at its own game by vastly improving on the Aeron's rocking concept. The arms and seat travel proportionally as you recline, so there's less adjusting of armpads than with a Leap; the seat cushion is outstanding, the lower back support amazing, better than a Leap, and the back recline opens up a bit more from the seat cushion than an Aeron. If, on the other hand, you prefer the concept of a recliner, sort of an office La-Z-Boy, (i.e. arms in place, seat cushion slides forward, back goes well back), then get the Leap.

Order from a commercial Steelcase dealer -- Google "Steelcase Authorized Dealer" -- if you can, not one of these online outfits. You'll save money and you'll get literally hundreds of fabric choices and about a dozen leather choices. The only catch is you'll have to pay by check, and you probably won't have the option of returning the chair. But of course you can try it out before you buy. Steelcase offers more than 800 upholstery choices with this chair and with the Leap.

I like the sleek design of this chair. It looks like it provides good back and bottom support. I like the green color that you chose, and will probably do the same when I get one. Bookmarking this post so that I remember to get it when I re-do my home office.

@ che I actually have been using it as my work chair since I got it (about 2 months ago), and it is exceptionally comfortable. I work from home, so I am sitting in it literally all day. It would be money well spent. Seriously :)

Do you think this would be comfortable as a computer chair especially if I have to sit in front of the computer the whole day? It is so stylish and I think it would be perfect for home office use. What do you think?
