Green Steal of the Week: Organic Plush 6 pc. Towel set

Given that bath towels are typically exposed to our entire bodies — even those unmentionable places — I’d hate to be exposed to the pesticides and chemicals that traditional cotton is laced with. But organic toweling can get pricey, with a washcloth alone sometimes priced at more than $10 apiece, and bath towels averaging about $20 when they aren’t on sale. Considering the typical costs, this 6-piece towel set is a steal. Made of 100% certified organic cotton, the set includes 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2 washcloths. Not bad for $50.

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of 100% organic cotton
  • The finishing process is chemical-free and softner-free
  • SKAL Certified
  • All dyes are 100% ecologically certified (not sure by whom)

Price: $49.99

You’re right–these are quite the bargain, especially if they’re plush, colorful, and reasonably large. I HATE spending a ton of money on towels that are thin and don’t retain their color. And those usually cost quite a bit more than the 6 bath towels/hand towels/wash cloths you’d get with this set. I’m all over these.

Wow! These looks great. I love the elegant design. It will compliment the color of my bathroom well. I have to get these. Thanks.

Nice find, Jennae.

FYI, your readers can also find inexpensive organic cotton towels online at JC Penney. Looks like hand towels are currently on sale there for just $4.99 – http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/SearchDepartment.aspx?SearchString=organic+towel&JSEnabled=&mscssid=&cmResetCat=true&hdnOnGo=false

I profiled some of JC Penney’s affordable Simply Green back in June on 1GreenProduct.com – http://www.1greenproduct.com/2008/06/home-jc-penney-simply-green-collection.html
