by jennae on October 31, 2008

Laguna blanQuette by Yumi & Laurie

When you’re a home decor fanatic like I am, you learn to recognize luxury when you see it. Sometimes, you don’t have to feel a product in your own hands to know that it will be soft, supple and indulgent. Yumi & Laurie’s blanQuettes™ fall into that category. I featured the St. Moritz blanQuette™ a few months ago, and I’ve been coveting one ever since.

The lovely ladies at Yumi & Laurie are offering up a gorgeous Laguna blanQuette™ worth $195 to one lucky reader of Green Your Decor. The Laguna is shown above, and the winner will get to select the color. This is nothing to sneeze at. These throws are gorgeous, to say the least. More importantly, they are green:

  • Made of 50% Organic Cotton and 50% Bamboo
  • Yumi & Laurie textiles are antimicrobial
  • As a company, Yumi & Laurie is committed to using only environmentally safe sustainable and materials and has taken a proactive stance on preserving the Earth

So here’s how you enter. Simply visit Yumi & Laurie, then come back here and leave a comment about one thing you liked or learned by 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, November 7, 2008. It can be your favorite product, or even some fact about the company. In your comment, let me know what color you’d like if you won. The available colors are shown above: purple, fuchia, navy or sky blue.

Want to enter more than once? Boost your chances of winning by completing one or more of the tasks on this list. Please leave a separate comment for each entry:

  1. If you haven’t already, sign up for Green Your Decor’s email updates by 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, November 7, 2008. You must verify your email subscription to be eligible. Bamboo is naturally antimicrobial. Bamboo is great for your skin as it wicks moisture away. A cross section of Bamboo fiber is a matrix with many microscopic gaps. Bamboo fiber breathes thereby keeping you cooler, drier and more comfortable.

This is my first time hearing about this product. I was very curious esp with the bamboo content. My visions of bamboo does not lead to thoughts of soft subtleness. When I read that bamboo fiber breathes therefore keeping you cooler and drier, it really peaked my interest. I love all the designs but my favorite is the Sand Palm tree hunter Furano.

Michele Molesky November 6, 2008 at 12:22 pm

I have been very ill for over 10 years now so it is very important for me to eat organic and have organic items in my home. I believe that what you put in and on your body reflect how your body works. I had no idea that what we know as “simple” cotton production can lead to poisoning to the soil which leads to health problems in the farmers and the people who use the products. After hearing this piece of information, I will always look for Organic Cotton. I can not afford to get any sicker. I simply was not aware that cotton that was not grown organic could possibly make me sick as a consumer. Additionally, just to know that a farmer trying to make a living for his family growing cotton is taking extra precautions so everyone is safe, I will spend the extra money to purchase these organic products. To me, this is a no brainier. This is the single best piece of information I have gathered this month! I spent some time looking through all the products; each is prettier than the last. I would love to win any of the items, but I especially liked the Furano and Nevis Collections. Thank you for providing this extremely important information to me Y & L, it is truly appreciated.

I learned that for an item to be “Certified Organic,” its fiber must be grown in accordance with strict, uniform standards that are verified by independent state or private organizations. Certification includes inspections of farm fields and processing facilities, detailed record keeping, and periodic testing of soil and water to ensure that growers and handlers are meeting the standards which have been set.

I love the St. Mortiz and the Laguna they look so soft. My favorite colors have to be Persimmion and sky blue, it would make you feel like you are floating on a cloud. I also love how big they are, a perfect size to cuddle with my daughter and a good book. Thanks

danielle November 7, 2008 at 6:08 pm

I learned that they use only 100% organic materials.

Lindsey November 7, 2008 at 4:17 pm

I never knew that cotton farms were so harmful due to the all the chemicals. I always assumed that cotton was automatically grown organically.

I love these blanquettes and would want the navy blue if I was to win.

I really like the St. Moritz, really beautiful. Bamboo is a sustainable material because of it’s high rate of growth and reforestation. Bamboo fibers are biodegradable.
