President Obama, I am proud today

by jennae on November 5, 2008

Barack Obama, originally uploaded by Yan Zhang [to Chicago].

I feel good this morning. Better than I have in a long time.

I am proud to be an American.

I’m proud to be a black woman.

I am proud that I can tell my daughter and stepsons that they really can be President of the United States.

I am proud to see that a campaign based on positivity and a spirit of inclusion won.

I am proud to see how our entire nation came together for a common cause.

I am proud that we overcame the racism and prejudice that all the detractors thought would make us fold.

I am proud to have worked side by side with others who believe that the future can be brighter.

I am proud of Obama.

President Barack Obama.

I love the way that sounds.

Now I’ll get off my soapbox :)

I’m glad to see that this election has moved everyone just as much as it has moved me, if not more. I feel honored to be alive to see this historical event, and I’m even happier that my daughter was there to witness the rise of President Baracko Bama (that’s the way she says his full name :) )

@Skye I second that notion!
