\"The Island\" poster by Travis Nichols

There are lots of things to love about being a mother, but one of my favorite things is that I get to stretch my imagination on a daily basis. Every night at bed time, I tell my daughter a story. But I don’t read from a book or recite the Three Little Pigs from memory. Instead, I make up a story in the moment — one of the few times when I’m comfortable improvising. They often involve little brown princesses, ballerinas, butterflies and other animals, because I let her pick the topic most nights.

It makes me wonder what story I’d tell if this whimsical 16″ x 20″ poster, “The Island,” were the insipiration. From the description:

It features a world of simple Pökketoni, who are content to go for walks, farm, and spend time with friends in their koraal-ic homes. However, their world is about to be shaken up by an island inhabited by MONSTERS! Things change. Things change.

I try to stay away from monsters in my made-up bedtime stories, but I’m pretty sure my daughter would like the idea of the Pökketoni. And she’d really like saying their name :)

Why It’s Green:

  • Printed with soy-based ink on 100% recycled paper

Price: $20
