Adams Media ~ “365 Ways to Live Green” by Diane Gow McDilda sounds like it would be a great complement to “Green Christmas.”

Amenity Home ~ I love the Baby Alpaca Mocha Throw Blanket! It looks so soft and cozy.

A.R.E. Naturals ~ I think the Yule Tree-to-Be Kit is such a great idea for a holiday gift.

Walmart: I’ve got my eye on the Sony 7″ Digital Photo Frame they have there for $129.97

Tiny Decor: I’ve fallen for the Raspberry Grand Jubilee Floor Cushion. Great for kids watching tv on the floor.

Method: I love Method products and it’s a company with a wicked sense of humor-read their packages sometimes, they’re funny! I always keep their Pink Grapefruit Hand Wash in the bathroom.

Adams Media – my pick would have to be Gluten-Free Baking with The Culinary Institute of America.

Method – the omop wood floor care kit.

The Hunger Site – I’m torn between the Peruvian Ceramic Nativity Set and Peruvian Ceramic Nativity Set.

Mama Goes Green – TWIST Clean it up Green Set

Fish lips Paper Design – I love their green idea of using left-over/green wrapping paper as drawer liners. How cute!

The Cardboard Tree – what a great idea for a small apartment! I would have a blast decorating it, and I love the fact that they donate to the Trees for America program.

*whoops! on my previous comment I meant I was torn between the Peruvian nativity set and the nativity carved out of an olive branch

Tiny Decor is amazing. I had no idea that NotNeutral made rugs, and not only are they adorable and green, they match the mural I have by them in my kids’ playroom! Awesome!

Method is wonderful. I was just looking at their Christmas line and the cranberry scented hand soap sounds wonderful.

Walmart is a tricky place. They have so much stuff and not much of it is green, I’m glad to see that they are carrying LED lighting options, and that they have some organic clothing on their site for kids.

8 Lori Z. December 6, 2008 at 10:07 am

Fish Lips is cool. Their papers are so vibrant and bold, you’d have no idea that they were recycled. I also like that they’re in the green for the rest of us category–which doesn’t make me feel so guilty.

The Hunger Site is one of those that I love because it’s Fair Trade, but I couldn’t do all of my shopping there. They have some beautiful yarns though, that I can beg my husband to buy and make me stuff (he’s gifted in the art of crochet).

Mama Goes Green is a site I’ve been to before, but I still hit the green tips area of the site and was reminded to buy minimal packaged products, very important for the holidays!

9 dorothy l December 6, 2008 at 10:08 am

I learned that you can send in stories to Adams Media. I love the little Mini Mixed Herb Garden-in-a-Pail from A.R.E. Naturals. I learned that Mama Goes Green grocery bags are waterproof that is a good feature.

10 Lori Z. December 6, 2008 at 10:13 am

I like that with the cardboard tree you can hang the cardboard ornaments or your own. It’s a very cool idea, one that I know my box loving kids would enjoy for sure!

I don’t partake of the alcohol, but at ARE Naturals, the recycled beer glasses are absolutely beautiful!

Amenity Home has amazing alpaca throws! They look warm and I love the mocha color!

11 stephanie December 6, 2008 at 10:15 am

i love that “the cardboard christmas tree” contributes to the arbor day foundation reforestation program, trees for america, for every cardboard tree sold … cute & conscious!

the bay leaf wreath is organic california bay laurel .. *and* handmade!

the amenity moon ornaments are printed by hand with eco-friendly inks and filled with spun, recycled plastic bottles.

thanks for the opportunity, jennae!

The cardboard Christmas tree – what a fun idea for kids! They can decorate it any way they want. A fun, creative family activity.

I like the green tips – top 10 list on the Fish Lips website – lots of good ideas! The purple haze wrapping paper is just beautiful!

I like the handmade and fair trade section at the huger site. So many items! I honestly didn’t know they had so many things listed.

15 Nancy J December 6, 2008 at 10:40 am

The Cardboard Christmas Tree -A portion of the cardboard Christmas tree sales is donated to the Arbor Day Foundation’s “Trees for America” Program.

Fish Lips-All of their green paper products are designed, printed and packaged here in the USA and are created from the highest quality 100% recycled paper and soy inks available.

The Hunger Site- I like the Love Bird Handbag. Created to help women worldwide gain economic security for themselves and their families by earning fair wages for their handiwork

Cardboard Christmas Tree ~ What a clever idea. It’s like having a blank slate for the holidays – lots of decorating options. Plus, I don’t think my cats would be as interested in eating this! I think it’s great that it helps the Arbor Day Foundation, too.

Fish Lips Paper Designs ~ I’m trying to avoid using wrapping paper this year because it’s so wasteful, but I really like Fish Lips’ green gift wrap papers. They’re colorful and attractive but also eco-friendly. The Poinsettia is my favorite.

The Hunger Site ~ I love the Olivewood Peace Dove Ornament set. They’re really elegant while being natural.

Erika Piteras last blog post..Wett Giggles Soap

17 Lmems December 6, 2008 at 10:44 am

I love that Fish Lips Paper designs uses thick 71lb paper that won’t rip in the corners.

It’s wonderful to know that RuMe Bags Reusable Totes are roomy and waterproof.

I’m glad to find a 3 Herb Wreath on A.R.E Naturals’ site that is made of rosemary, bay leaf and thyme, because I’m obsessed with the scent of rosemary.

Thanks for the opportunity!

18 Karen December 6, 2008 at 10:45 am

The Muir bed on the amenity website is just stunnng! Simple and elegant.

I’m in love with the recycled dictionary jewelry on the mama goes green site. Too cute! Especially the bee charmer earrings.

I like that you can browse the method website’s product by scent or by product type. Not many websites offer the option to sort by scent. Nice! Too bad there’s no internet scratch-n-sniff!

19 Nancy J December 6, 2008 at 10:48 am

Momma Goes Green-I Like their Green To Grow BPA free Baby Bottle Basics Gift Set.

Method- I like their squeaky green baby hair + body wash. It’s 99% natural, hypo-allergenic and pediatrician tested, so it’s gentle on baby. It has a reusable lid that doubles as a wash cup.

Tiny Decor-I like the Avalisa Butterfly Trails Stretched Wall Art

Mama Goes Green ~ I use reusable shopping bags all the time, and the RuMe designs are so stylish. I like the Expresso color the best.

Method ~ I love all the Method products I’ve tried, but I’m really fascinated by the Squeaky Green Laundry line. I bet the dryer cloths smell good.

Tiny Decor ~ The holiday stockings are great! I like the Raspberry Flowing Dots Stocking the best.

The rugs on the tiny decor site are very nice. I like the color schemes that seem to be associated with green decor. Browns with blue or pinks. The orange, green and yelow combinations.

The walmart site – I see they have a beta grocery shopping option now. Cool!

Adams media has a book listed on their home page – The 99 Cent Only Stores Cookbook—Gourmet Recipes at Discount Prices by Christiane Jory a very timely book for this economy.

Thanks for the chance to win! Keep up the good work on this blog – your newsletter is great and always full of good information. I really enjoy it.

Here is my entry:

From Mama Goes Green I like the Greenwich Reusable tote, and think their GREEN TIPS are all useful

From The Hunger Site I learned that every single purchase people makes directly feeds the hungry of the world. I really like the Spun Bamboo Top Birdhouse, and would feel virtuous buying from the site.

From the Fish Lips Paper Designs I learned that they use recycled papers to make their products. I especially like the Blue Blossoms Boxed set of note cards in the recyclable box.

From the Cardboard Christmas Tree I learned that everything they make is 100% recyclable, and I like the Cardboard Christmas Tree they sell for $22.95.

23 Erin Walsh December 6, 2008 at 11:02 am

Adams Media- I found a great book section for writers and I think I might have to hint for this book for Christmas. “Write.
10 Days to Overcome Writer’s Block. Period.”

Amenity Home- I can just imagine wrapping up in a cozy mocha, alpaca throw.

A.R.E. Naturals- I absolutely love all of the bay leaf wreaths, I’ve been seeing them and coveting them for weeks now, especially the “Bay Leaf Wreath with Chilis” on this site. Imagine having something so beautiful and also having more than enough dried bay leaves to use in your cooking all year.

But scince it’s one of the prizes I’m going to pick another favorite also, the “Railway Tie Console Tables S/3″. What a beautiful set, I can just imagines them filled with plants, books and pottery.

24 Carol December 6, 2008 at 11:07 am

Here is my second entry:

From Walmart I learned that you can search for toys according to price range. My favorite item is their Step2 LifeStyle Custom Kitchen.

From Tiny Decor I learned that their philosophy is style that is eco-friendly, and I LOVE their Cotton Monkey Sweet Jane Collection.

Adams media bookstore. I visited their website and saw that I can get a book for about anything. From weddings to self help to cookbooks. I love to read. I liked that they have kids books as well. Amenity home. They have beautiful stuff. I really like their cove/cream $ cocoa bedding set. A.R.E. naturals. They have an interesting site. To pick something from there it would be the garden-in-a-pail mini tomato. That could come in handy.

26 Amy B. December 6, 2008 at 11:11 am

Carboard Christmas Tree. I love these cute trees. You can store them anywhere. I would love to see the kids decorating this. I love the fact that they donate to the arbor day foundation because I also do twice a year. Fish Lips paper design. Now these wrapping papers are very pretty. Many to choose from. I like the bubbly wrap. The Hunger Site. Every purchase helps feed someone hungry? Why wouldn’t you love that? I like their peace gym bag.

27 Carol December 6, 2008 at 11:13 am

Here is my third entry.

From Method I learned that they don’t have any toxic ingredients in their products, and I like their methodbaby bundle of joy bundle
rice milk + mallow set.

From Amenity Home I learned that they introduced beautifully handwoven alpaca throw blankets from Peru in 2008, and I especially love their Cove Cream + Cocoa
Organic Duvet Cover.

From Adams Media I learned that they have some Sale books for as cheap as $4! I like their The Church Potluck Supper Cookbook, as I collect cookbooks. There you go!! Happy Holidays.

28 Amy B. December 6, 2008 at 11:14 am

Method. Oh I love smellies. I like their gingerbread spice candle. Tiny decor. Their enchanted forest tiny felt bucket is adorable. So is their beds and kids storage bins. Walmart. What can you say about Walmart that hasn’t been said already. Great place to shop. Many more items online than in the store. If they don’t have something you want they usually get it in before long. I can’t pick a favorite at walmart. Way to much there to pick a favorite.

29 sito December 6, 2008 at 11:16 am

Method – I use several of the Method products regularly. Last year, I tried the spiced pear counter cleaner and loved the fragrance; so I ran out to Target and stocked up this year. I will have that scent a little longer this year. Their Almond floor cleaner is delicious. It’s such a nice, rich scent.

The Hunger Site — I like that there are categories for different fundraisers, such as breast cancer and rain forest. They have a really wide selection of fair trade products at very reasonable prices. I have bookmarked them for future shopping needs.

Amenity Home — Wow! Their hemp pillows have an outer hemp shell, a filling encased in organic cotton, and you can can choose fill made of polyester from recycled plastic bottles or kapok. How eco-friendly is that! Another site I’ve bookmarked.

This is a great giveaway, and I am happy to have found two new websites that can provide me with eco-friendly, fair trade products.

I am eager to see what the remaining sites hold!

30 LeeAnn P. December 6, 2008 at 11:20 am

from tiny decor I love the notNeutral Transport area rug. This would be perect for the kids’ bedroom as they adore all “things that go”

Walmart has a fabulous Ingeo 300TC eco friendly down alternate comforter I would love for the kids.

And just to prove I think of myself too:
Method has aroma sticks in lavender lemongrass I would love love love to perfume my bedroom with. Come to think of it lavender would be good to help the kids sleep too. Oh well.

The Cardboard Christmas Tree – Imagine what fun kids could have decorating a three foot tall cardboard tree. They not only extend the life of existing cardboard, but they also donate part of their profit to the Arbor Day Foundation’s Trees for America program.

Fish Lips Paper Designs -I love the “Ornamental” wrapping paper and think it would be great to use as a Christmas wrap. It’s designs almost appear Celtic Knot like.

The Hunger Site -I really like the “Organic Cotton Freya Top” I keep looking for comfortable, tunic like tops and these are it.

33 Diana Corlett December 6, 2008 at 11:32 am

Walmart’s range of personalized ornaments are lovely. I especially like the personalized Rocking Horse Ornament and the personalized Angel Bell ornament.

Tiny Decor’s Butterfly Jubilee Floor Cushion would be a cheerful and comfy addition to the seating in my casual family room.

Mama Goes Green-The “LapTop Lunch Bento Box System” is a great replacement for all of the plastic baggies and even the brown paper lunch bags.

Method-This company takes green to a whole new level. “Second, we believe that how you do things is just as important as what you’re doing. We pay as much attention to how we run our business as to how we make our products. We minimize our water use, offset the carbon used in our office and employee travel and we keep a green office.

Third, we believe sustainability should be a part of our relationships. We work with our suppliers and factories to make sure that every element of our business has the same focus on sustainability that we have in our own practices.” They believe in being responsible to the point of making sure that everything they do and every supplier that they have contact with is committed to the same responsible stewardship of our natural resources.

Mama Goes Green offers eco-friendly reuseable bags that are stylish, in a good range of colors and patterns. Love that they are waterproof, durable, and roomy.

The Hunger Site is a treasure trove of fair trade products. The hand-carved Rwandan nativity set is just one great example.

Fish Lips Paper Designs is “bridging the gap between designer papers and recycled paper products”. Beautiful gift wraps like Poinsettas and Don’t Be a Flake prove their point.

A.R.E. Naturals natural cleaning department offers a range of eco friendly cleaning cloths and sponges, as well as Farmhouse Furniture Wax with the heavenly scent of lavender.

Amenity Home presents organic bedding to “dye” for! The color choices are dreamy…my favorite duvet collection is willow in cream and sienna.

Adams Media’s “front page” showcases a book on a subject I haven’t seen explored in depth…the unique problems facing a society when so many parents are unmarried…how the traditional family is changing because of that.

Love the moon ornaments — materials: Printed by hand with non-toxic, water-based, eco-friendly inks on a premium fabric made from hemp and blended with organic cotton. Filled with spun, recycled plastic bottles. Since we have a baby this ornament covers a few worries — if ornament falls, no breakage and non-toxic if my little boy decides to teeth on it.
The Basil Clara Stocking is fantastic too! We need one for the baby and this one is lovely. Again, non-toxic so baby can use as teether. Yeah! The multicolored LED Christmas Lights from Walmart are mych needed for our bare artificial tree which only has one strand of lights and a handful of ornaments. This fantastic prize would make our Christmas special so fingers crossed!

51 Melody December 6, 2008 at 2:48 pm

Ooh, so many things to love, but here are a few favorites:

–The Robin Rosenthal Counting Birds poster from Tiny Decor
–The bird candlesticks from ARE Naturals
–The origami peace cranes from the Hunger Site

A complete bird theme! How about that?

52 maryanne December 6, 2008 at 2:51 pm

Such fun stuff!

I love how the reusable tote bags from Mama Goes Green fold up and fit in your pocket and yet are waterproof for the “wet” groceries.

The recycled paper from Fish Lips is a pleasant change from the more tacky holiday paper (and better for the environment too)

The Bay Leaf Wreath from ARE Naturals is another great way to save trees (or at least the greenery) and to add a wonderful natural aroma to your house. You could keep it all year long in the kitchen.

Thanks for the giveaway!!

53 katieg December 6, 2008 at 2:53 pm

I love the bay leaf wreath! I don’t have any wreaths and this one looks super eco friendly because it’s natural and it doesn’t scream CHRISTMAS. I could really use it all year round.

ALso, I just looked at the method ornaments at Target the other day. I thought that was a really neat idea.

The Hunger Site is a new site to me. I love the concept behind it!

Love the stockings from Tiny Decor, but Noah Owl Box by Mod Mom Furniture is on my wish list. Reusable bags are cute and my kis want the ECO-KIDS Non-Toxic Eco-Fingerpaint from Mama Goes Green. Oh, and . . . pickme, pickme, pickme! ;-)

60 Meg T December 6, 2008 at 4:14 pm

I really like how ADAMS MEDIA has a “featured books” section. 1001 Books for Every Mood looks like a fun resource.
I love the silver and creme tree skirt from AMENITY HOME. My current tree skirt is a bedsheet.
The teapot for one set from A.R.E. NATURALS is cute enough to have as a decoration on your counter. Thanks!!

61 Meg T December 6, 2008 at 4:26 pm

I think my son would have so much fun with the tree from THE CARDBOARD CHRISTMAS TREE. The Purple Haze paper from FISH LIPS is gorgeous and would be the perfect wrapping for many different occasions. Also, I think the Silk Geo Cosmetic Cases from THE HUNGER SITE are super cute-thanks!!

62 Lorina December 6, 2008 at 4:41 pm

The Hunger Site’s Handmade Copper Wire Star Ornament is so cute, and so are all their other star ornaments. Love Fish Lips’ “Chilly Dog” and “Dont Be a Flake.” The Cardboard Christmas tree. . . LOVE it!! And my kids will have a ball!

63 Lorina December 6, 2008 at 4:48 pm

Love the Bay Leaf Wreath from A.R.E. Naturals. I’ve been pineing for the succulent wreath in Viva Terra! The hemp/organic cotton moon ornaments in silver and gold from Amenity Home. . . cute and so are the tree skirts! I just read about The 99 Cent Only Stores Cookbook—Gourmet Recipes at Discount Prices by Christiane Jory and would love to have it. We have A 99 Cent Only Store just around the corner.

64 Julie December 6, 2008 at 6:39 pm

I really enjoyed looking at this website. Their wreaths made of herbs, the bay leaf wreath and the garden in a pail were sooo cool. With those wreaths I can decorate for the holidays and actually do something with them besides shred it or get a fake and pack it away. What awesome ideas.

65 Julie December 6, 2008 at 6:43 pm

I went into Mama Goes Green and really got a chuckle out of the website. I forward the site to my son who always teases me about becoming a “tree hugger”, but is very supportive. Those twist sponges they had on their site are something I’m going to try and will be ordering baby bottles for a friend who is expecting this spring. Also thought the Cardboard Christmas Tree site was a really neat idea for use of cardboard. We draw names in our family and thought this might be a different gift for who we get.

66 Staci A December 6, 2008 at 7:08 pm

I love the birdseye cream + moss tote at Amenity Home. Very cute!

Over at Adams Media, “How to Back up a Trailer” looks like it would make a great gift for the hubby. They have quite a few books that look great.

The Himalayan Candle Tray from A.R.E. Naturals is beautiful. It would be a wonderful addition to our living room.

67 Julie December 6, 2008 at 7:09 pm

Went in an finished looking at the other websites listed. I’m not much into wrapping paper, etc., but Fish Lips was different. Really enjoyed Method’s site and found out their is more to them besides wipes and cleaners. My daughter is really into scents, so now I can get her more environmentally friendly options. Tiny Decor would be fun if I still had little ones – both of mine are upper teens and really don’t get into much on this site. WalMart – well, it’s WalMart, and even though people bitch about them I still have very good luck there. You do need to pay attention, but that’s even happening on green sites, too. Adams Media had alot of different books, but nothing I felt I “needed”. Amenity had really pretty stuff, but my husband wouldn’t go for it – not manly enough. The Hunger Site will certainly be a site I bookmark for the jewelry, purses, backyard stuff – they have a stuff for everywhere and it supports people who really deserve it. WOW – more sites for me to peruse :)

68 Staci A December 6, 2008 at 7:15 pm

I love that the Cardboard tree donates to the Arbor Day Foundation. I also learned that they have donated several trees to hospitals.

At Fish Lips Paper Designs, I love the Don’t Be A Flake design. I also learned that the name of the shop came from a conversation with the creator’s then boyfriend.

At the Hunger Site, the Endangered Animal Babies are adorable. My son would love any of them. The Snow Leopard is my favorite.

At Mama Goes Green, I love the Eco-Fingerpaint. It would be great to use this with my little one.

Over at Method, the Squeaky Green Hair and Bath Wash sounds perfect. I’m sure it’s get quite a bit of use around here.

The Blueberry Grand Jubilee Floor Cushion is my favorite item over at Tiny Decor. It looks perfect for lounging around.

Cardboard Christmas Tree-Can’t go wrong with a 100% recycled product. Every purchase plants a tree for the Arbor day foundation!!

Hunger Site-Purchases go toward helping people in need from the hungry, women in need of mammograms, health services for children, books for children, endangered rain forests, and animal rescue. All of this while providing goods that are recyclable, sustainable or made by some people in need…Great Humanitarian Site!

Mama Goes Green-Great reusable, chic products made from recycled or sustainable materials.

Tiny Decor — The products featured on their website are all made in the USA, except for the Olli & Green, which are made in the UK of fabric printed in the USA. I learned that, and I also learned that they have some very pretty fabrics that are different for nurseries.

A.R.E. Naturals — They support American Forests tree planting projects by working with http://www.americanforest.org to plant a tree with every order of $50 or more. I like their bedside water pitcher and glass made out of recycled windshield glass.

The Cardboard Christmas Tree — They donate a portion of profits to the Arbor Day Foundation’s Trees for America program. These trees are so fun! I like that they include cardboard ornaments and you can color or decorate it and make it one-of-a-kind.

Adams Media — The giveaway book would really come in handy for planning Christmas. I see they have a lot of other green books, and a nice selection of other books as well.
RuMe — They have many different sizes and designs of bags that are way more fashionable than the hemp or cotton bags I usually carry. I see that they have gift bags that are made to be reused, also — if the person who receives them can bear to give them up. I think they’d have lots of uses around the house.
FishLips — What fun patterns they have in wrapping papers! Not only made of recycled paper, but also printed with soy ink. A step up from the newspapers I currently use to wrap gifts, but more eco-friendly than what I can get at the stores.

118 Deb December 8, 2008 at 9:47 am

I hadn’t heard of the book “Green Christmas” – it looks like a great resource for those us working on being “greener”. I love what the Hunger Site is doing and love that you’ve included the Handmade Copper Wire Star Ornament from their site! I visited the site for the RuMe Reusable Bags Grocery Tote – neat bags – much prettier than plain old beige cotton bags!

Debs last blog post..61 Recalled Toys

119 Laura December 8, 2008 at 10:11 am

I love the Polar Bear Rocker over at tinydecor–what an awesome twist on an old favorite toy. It recalls the Velveteen Rabbit–all those toys shoved aside when they were broken or lost their shine. A good reminder that old toys can be ‘new’ again with some fixing. Or to cycle out the toys every few months so that a little goes a long way.
Over at FishLips, they’ve got a top ten list of ways to reuse their already green friendly paper. I thought the best idea was to change out the photo inserts for those portable coffee mugs. You could do that for anything with a photo placeholder–frames, mousepads, coasters, pendants–and just switch it out to your latest favorite print.
Finally, I love the Cardboard Christmas tree. If you can’t do a real tree because of allergies or apartment codes, then you don’t *have* to go with the plastic fake ones. I love that.

120 Lorrie December 8, 2008 at 10:29 am

Amenity Home – Love the birdseye (cream+gold) table runner for holidays or any day!

Thanks for the chance to win!

- Ok as soon as I visited Adam’s Media, I found the book for me – “Unmarried With Children”. We are unmarried with 2 boys, happi & lovin it!
- At Amenity – OMG- One of everything please! Actually the Muir Bed is amazing. It looks so minimal.
-A.R.E. Naturals – wow! the Flea Market Stoneware Dinnerware is sooo beautiful. I am smitten, but at 215.00 I will stay smitten.

I must say this giveaway is wildly perfect. Thank you for the chance to win – it will be dancing through my head I’m sure.

145 Jamaise December 10, 2008 at 1:58 am

-The Cardboard Christmas Tree – pretty self explainitory, but what a good idea. I have to have a real tree, but this would be great for kids & would strike up a gree dialog with them too.
-Fishlips Paper Designs – I like the “One Love” wrapping paper. My dog made me do it.
-The Hunger Site – whoa – meaningful here. I would choose the Save Darfur Organic Cotton T-Shirt & Hat . Added to my favs will go and order a few things for x-mas.

146 Jamaise December 10, 2008 at 2:38 am

-Mama Goes Green- I would like to have the TWIST Clean it up Green Set. Maybe I will gift it to myself after the holidays! My B-Day is on Christmas Day, so I always get birthday loot!
-Method – I love their products – if I were to choose, I’d pick the watersavor bundle .
- Tiny Decor – I LOVE the Owyn Toy Box – can you say wow?
-Walmart – This is number four, but I can’t leave poor Wal-Mart out. They are the reason I can pick up cat food, a pack of cotton v-necks, and egg nog all at the same time. I love you Wal-Mart :)

Thank you for giving me the chance to enter. Now I am going to go and talk myself down, if I don’t, this prize package will drive me nuts. And to think I almost missed it – I just stumbled on it today!!! Good luck to everyone – I mean that.

The Hunger Site – I have been “clicking to help” here and at its associated sites for years. I love that they offer a shop to help gain funds, and that the items are within reason and well-made.

A.R.E. Naturals – As a gardening and nature fan, I can’t help but LOOOVE the items on their site! I particularly like the Bay Leaf Wreath.

Walmart – What CAN’T you find at Walmart? We just went theere last week; daughter insisted on getting the Twilight book; which was very inexpensive.

149 kristin December 10, 2008 at 2:53 pm

Fish lips~I liked the Ohh Dear paper
RuMe~ The mini reusable tote bags would make awesome gift bags.
A.R.E. Naturals~The heart shaped measuring spoons are too cute!

150 Marigold December 10, 2008 at 6:51 pm

I am so thankful for AdamsMedia for promoting “The 99¢ Only Stores Cookbook: Gourmet Recipes at Discount Prices.” I love to cook, but I have neither the money nor the resources to venture off in search of some of the more exotic ingredients. Plus, the book’s endorsed by Jack Black. Can it get any cooler?

As far as I’m concerned, Amenity Home has struck gold with the design and execution of their hemp pillows. Really, they’re just stunning. Had I all the money in the world, well, I probably wouldn’t be lusting after the 99 cent store cookbook, but besides that, I would decorate all my lounging spaces with these gorgeous pillows. The cove cocoa + silver hemp organic cotton pillow is a particular favorite.

This same dream house that is covered in hemp throw pillows also has a Water Lily Eco Friendly Showerhead from A.R.E. Naturals in every full bath. I love the various energy-saving features, but it’s the three separate spraying patterns that really clinches the deal.

151 Marigold December 10, 2008 at 7:13 pm

The Cardboard Christmas Tree is totally inspired! Not only does it encourage creativity, a portion of proceeds go directly to Arbor Day’s reforestation program. Everybody wins!

Fish Lips Paper Designs is a great source of eco-friendly designer wrapping paper. Standouts for me were Dots-in-a-Row, Pinky Pink, and Purple Haze.

The Hunger Site offers some extraordinary gifting opportunities. For instance, can you think of a more touching and special gift than be able to send two girls to school in Afghanistan? For that person who has everything, now you can give peace of mind.

152 Vicky Boackle December 10, 2008 at 7:37 pm

cardboard christmas tree.

153 Marigold December 10, 2008 at 7:40 pm

I’m a word girl, so of course I can’t get enough of Mama Goes Green’s lovely Foundling Recycled Dictionary Drop Earrings. No book should ever go to waste, not even the boring ones.

Method’s website is too hip to be particularly practical, but I’m willing to forgive them so long as their products live up to expectation. I have my eye on the natural moisturizing body bar in the almond flower scent, but I could be persuaded to branch out to their various cleaning surplies with very little effort.

Par contrast, Tiny Decor has a wonderfully-executed Gift Guide that groups objects together based on priced and/or personality. I really appreciated this, as it made it much easier for me to find the perfect present for my young nephew: the notNeutral Transport Ceramic Snack Set.

154 Dan December 10, 2008 at 7:52 pm

Amenity Home – I like that they offer modern bedding and home accessories inspired by nature and made from organic fiber.

Are Naturals – I like the Coyuchi Organic Cotton Beach Towel.

2. At ARE Naturals, I learned shea butter and olive oil are a powerful combination of moisture and natural antioxidants and available in a great handwashing liquid.

3. And at Method, I learned that “dish soap go naked” has no dyes and no perfumes and is good for your hands.

156 Rebecca C December 11, 2008 at 2:56 am

177 Amy B. December 11, 2008 at 1:49 pm

I chose the Cardboard Christmas Tree first. These would make great gifts for crafters, kids, teachers, etc. I liked that they added some decorating ideas. They do not take up lots of space. Would last for years. They also donate a portion of sales to the Trees For America Program, for every $1 donated one tree will be planted in a damaged forest.

Secondly, I liked the RuMe Bags. I currently have several reuse type bags I take with me shipping. The majority of the ones I have basic black with the stores name and logo. I like that these are fashionable enough to carry for whatever the need may be. They also come in sets of 3 or separately. They also fold flat to fit in a back pocket; one velcro strap can secure 1 bag or all three together. Makes storage easier too.

Third, was just neat, Handmade Copper Wire Star Ornament. Neat Ornament for yourself or others, definitely a conversation piece. Also, provides for a great cause: The Hunger Site will fund 25.0 cups of food for each Handmade Copper Wire Star Ornament purchased.

178 Leah December 11, 2008 at 1:58 pm

I like the River Cream + Sienna Pillow from A.R.E. Naturals.

180 Robin December 11, 2008 at 3:01 pm

I really love the bamboo aroma rings….or UFO’s as they called them. I love how they would match the decor of my home and no nasty plastic leftover!

The cardboard Christmas Tree is really cool. completely recycled, no trees had to die for my holiday to be festive. This would be a great conversation starter on my desk at work! Plus they make a donation to Arbor Day Foundation to help replant real trees!

Green Christmas would be an awesome book to read. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make this holiday more eco-friendly, and this sounds like the guide to help! Especially about giving gifts that teach green to others. I love that!

Amenity: Wow, I’m really struck by the gorgeous designs. They’re so striking. My favorite piece is the Cove Cream + Cocoa Organic Duvet Cover.

A.R.E. Naturals: I can’t get the page to load. :( I clicked the main link and the link to the wreath, but get the “page cannot be found” error each time…but all the other sites load fine. :(

Second Entry:

The Cardboard Christmas Tree: Aww, so cute! I love the blue tree. And very cool that they donate a portion of the profits to the Trees For America program!

Fish Lip Paper Designs: The Chilly Dogs gift wrap is very funny!

The Hunger Site: Well, they are amazing because of all the money they’ve raised, and this great store helps in that effort. The Fair Trade section is my favorite – the Organic Cotton Cap Sleeve Wrap Dress is soo pretty, and it funds 50 cups of food when you purchase it!

Third and final entry:

Mama Goes Green: Cute website! I’m loving the Eco Me Natural Body Kit Non-Toxic DIY.

Method: These guys make great soaps – I’ve used the foaming hand wash (I believe the scent was French Lavender), and I really liked it. A product I’d like to try would be the aroma soy candle in fresh lychee. Soy candles are awesome!

Tiny Decor: AMAZING rugs!! I want the Avalisa Bubble Wool Rug!!!

Again, thank you so much for the giveaway! Fingers crossed!!

206 Sharon Clark December 12, 2008 at 6:52 am

I loved the products at Amenity and especially liked the Alpaca throw in mocha. I have used Method products for a while but did not know the range of their products and am interested in the granite and floor cleansers. I was happy to learn of Fishlips Fashionably responsible gift wrap. I like an alternative to irresponsible pretty foils and patterns and the extreme of re-using newspapers!

207 Brooke December 12, 2008 at 8:56 am

Method: They have a “People Against Dirt” community!
Hunger Site:Bio-Pot Herb Garden
Amenity Home:treeskirt | cream + silver

“Green Christmas”: You can learn how to make “green” fires.
RuMe bags: The sides and bottoms are squared so you can fit more things in them.
LED lights from WalMart: WalMart doesn’t have any online section for “green” purchases, which is really disappointing.

210 Lisa K December 12, 2008 at 10:08 am

I had no idea the Hunger Site sold things… clearly it’s been a while since I last visited!

I LOVE the RuMe bags. Love.

I love amenity products, especially the linen pillows.

1. FreshLips: the notecards are adorable
2. Method: their lemon ginger scent is amazing
3. Cardboard Christmas Tree: my neice would have hours and hours of fun with this one–and their support of Trees for America is pretty great.

213 Gaye McGill December 12, 2008 at 11:13 am

A.R.E. Naturals has some great products, including a three herb wreath that would smell wonderful and then could be used for cooking.
I visit the Hunger Site (and its sister sites) ever day and click on the free donation buttons. They do a lot of good around the world and offer some great products, every one of which contributes to their cause.
Mama Goes Green sells some unique fair trade products and has an excellent list of Green Tips.

229 Elsie December 12, 2008 at 1:07 pm

From The Cardboard Christmas Tree, the recycled cardboard tree is a perfect item for each classroom at the elem. school to decorate, using a theme that they choose…very inspiring, and then they could donate it to a person or place to give hope and joy! Easy to transport and display…great idea, great size.

From Fish Lips Paper Design, the Chilly Dogs with antlers recycled gift wrap paper is great for our pet loving friends, and for the Humane Society volunteers’ gifts (from Santa of course).

From The Hunger Site, The Chocolate Himalayan Tote is ideal for me to wear and “tote” with respect and pride, always willing and able to share the details of the Hunger Site as I get compliments on the purse.

The Yachana Jungle Chocolate from the Hunger Site looks really good. The prints at Amenity Home are all adorable, but I like the Hiding Bunny one best. The Yule Tree-to-be gift is a great idea at A.R.E. Naturals.

236 katieg December 12, 2008 at 3:46 pm

I love Tiny Decor! I read their blog daily and love all their wonderful products. Such great inspiration there!

Walmart is getting much better about having green products. There is a much bigger selection of green cleaning products, more “all natural” and organic food items. Finally! Hurray for Walmart. They do have great prices, after all.

Green Christmas from Adams Media looks like a wonderful read! I would love to find ways to greener my Christmas – alternative wrapping papers and the like, foods, conserving energy, etc.

237 Darcy December 12, 2008 at 4:46 pm

I had no intention of actually purchasing anything, but I did end up “buying” a Darfur stove at The Hunger Site. My son put “world peace” on his Xmas list, probably as a bit of a lark. So I did this in his name as his small contribution to that, and for a place that really needs a whole lot more peace.
On a slightly less serious note, Method has some really nice handsoaps in beautiful bottles (esp the green cucumber). And the notecards at Fishlips are eyecatching. Esp liked the swallow one.

mama goes green: I’ve been trying to decide which reusable bags to buy…there are so many out there! Now I have one more choice, I love the designs, they’re not plain like most other bags I’ve seen.

Method: I’ve liked all the method products I’ve tried so far (all three of em’) but I’m really excited to try the ornament candle. I almost picked one up at Target the other day….but I had already reached my quota for unnecessary items for the day (maybe next time)
