Shades of Style: Block Print Pillows from Cielo Home

Block Pillows from Cielo Home

There’s something about words that makes me smile. It was words that made me switch my college major from sociology (believe it or not) to journalism. And it’s words that make me absolutely love this pillow series by Dermond Peterson Design from Cielo Home.

Now that I’m also a graphic designer (who also has a degree in journalism), I also love typography. So the combination of clever wordplay and awesome typography rockets these pillows to the top of my list of green products I covet. At nearly $200 a pop, they will probably stay on the list for a long while, but I still love them.

Each pillow features a bold typographic design that is made up of different shades of the color of the pillow. For example, the green pillow features the words chartreuse, apple, moss and emerald, among others. And the pillow is also available in blue and red, all based on the same concept. But even better than that? The pillows are block-printed using environmentally sensitive, water-based inks, and they are machine-washable and color-fast. I do with the insert wasn’t made of feathers, but I guess you can’t win them all.

Why It’s Green:

  • Block-printed on linen using environmentally sensitive, water-based inks that are free of solvents, lead and heavy-metals

Price: $195

I’m really loving these pillows! And what great eye-catching colors, too. They would look great on my brown suede sofa…

I love the bright colors of the pillows. I also like the words on the pillows: words of the different shades of the colors.

Very creative!
