My husband knows how much I like eclectic art and accessories. We have African masks and shadow boxes filled with handmade trinkets, and I’m typically drawn to colorful art like the Obama print I featured yesterday. But something tells me he might be a little freaked out if I brough home this recycled glass head from Pier 1. I love stepping out on a limb and doing something that’s a little different and a lot unexpected, but I think if this were in my home, I’d feel like its blank eyes were following me around the room.
On the plus side, it is made of recycled glass, so at least no resources were wasted to create it. But really, unless you’re a sculptor or a hairdresser, it’s hard to imagine any decorator using this. I’m trying to envision it in a teenager’s room, or maybe in a funky sitting room. It might work, but I think this one is a little too much for my taste.
So what do you think readers? Is it drab or fab? Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Possibly if lined with some funky, vintage print fabric, it could be interesting in the right setting. But as it stands? Totally drab. Would not be seen in my house.
OMG – I had one of those back in the 80′s!

I think I should pick up a second-hand hair-crimper before getting this to go w. the whole 80′s thing… I think it’s best left in the RIP pile. Would you love it in 10 years? 30 years? And really, that’s what being eco-chic is about.
Always the odd bird, I like it. Of course, my decor is eclectic to say the least — a little bit country, a little bit…..
I picture it on a bookshelf with something dark — I don’t know what — strategically placed behind it to make it pop.
ugh. so drab!
and it certainly doesn’t help my opinion of them that a former boyfriend had one of those back in 1990, a carry-over from his early 80′s college days.
grody to the max!
I have one from five years ago (not sure if it is recycled). When I lived with roommates, we would dress it up. You never knew what would be on the head in the morning. It gets pretty fun.
I think it would be great in a mod 50′s style rec room or siting room… Add some shag carpeting and velvet drapes, some pom-pom edged throw pillows… Awsome…
DRAB! I saw this in Pier 1 and just stood there with my brow furrowed. I certainly would not want that in my home. Who wants the image of a empty head lurking in the shadows?

Looks like we’re almost at a consensus here. It does look like a reject of the 80s, doesn’t it? But Rebekah’s story about dressing up her head different ways is actually pretty fun. Great way to liven up an apartment if you can stand looking at it for more than 5 seconds
A friend gave me one of those about ten years ago. It went on to my brother who gave it to a friend, but filled with candy, the way she gave it to me, it was wonderful!
I think I dated a guy in college who had one of these. It wore his big DJ headphones next to his stereo.
Banish it back to the 90′s from whence it came.

Yes, it works great for Studio Headphones… I have one in my music room and want a couple more… It keeps the headphones from getting damaged…holds the right shape, and it’s a great conversation starter.
I have one. I got it, er her, at the Salvation Army thrift store. Did you take yours there? haha…She is wearing a velvet witch hat at the moment . I have lots of hats and different hat head forms.
This is totally chic and wonderful. I just found one in someone’s garbage with a broken nose. I was just online trying to see if I could buy another of them. Get it and decorate away. I think the blank stare will soften when you get used to it. I love mine already, though noseless.(:
To a point, if the theme is more on the 50′s or 60′s, it would be fab, but frankly, it’s a drab.
I love mine, I have several and use them as wig forms.
I got one. I put it on my mantel and put sunglasses on it. Love it.
I just bought one for my wife for Christmas, we had seen one in an antique shop filled with antique buttons. She is a button collector so I thought I’d fill it with buttons as a gift and she can use it as a display. It think it’s great if it has something of interest inside.
I have a blue one and love her. I named her Hedda Household. She sits on my counter in my bathroom where different hats are hung all around the top of the wall. I change her hat with the season.
People need to think outside of the box to appreciate this glass head. It can been filled with some pretty cool things. Be creative!
