From all the responses I’ve gotten thus far in the Green Your Decor reader survey and giveaway, one thing has become pretty clear: many of my readers are looking for green products that will fit into their budgets during these tough economic times.
I’m a firm believer that TRULY green products (meaning, in part, that they are well made and will last a long time), regardless of their cost at the outset, are the better value in the long run. But since I understand that sometimes dollar signs speak louder than intangible benefits like no-VOCs, I will make an effort tofind green products that are more affordable. I will not disregard higher-priced items, but I will attempt to find more products that on the lower end of the pricing scale.
That said, I want to introduce you to 2 sites today that sell green products at great discounts, normally between 40% and 80% off retail prices. Here’s the catch: Each product is available for just one day.
- Green Baby Bargains: http://www.greenbabybargains.com
- Ecosteal: http://ecosteal.com/
Each site allows you to sign up for email notifications. Each day, you will receive an email letting you know what product is on sale for that day. For example, today’s sale at Green Baby Bargains is an organic cotton poncho from KeeKa Organics at just $12, which is 70% off the retail price. At Ecosteal, today’s sale is for Kina Lambskin baby booties for $17.10, 55% off retail.
Each site carries a variety of items. I’ve seen eco-friendly strollers, kids clothing, baby bottles, recycled backpacks and more. Yesterday, the sale at Ecosteal was a beautiful table made of reclaimed wood. Unfortunately, I read the email too late to notify you of the deal.
If you’re looking to go green on the cheap, these sites can really help you do that. You just have to be ready to buy when you see the deal, because they only last one day and they often sell out fast. If you’re looking for a great deal on nursery furniture, check out last week’s Green Steal of the Week, the Netto CUB Crib for $199.99 and changing table for $149.99.
You should also keep an eye on the GYD coupon page for deals when you are shopping for green products online. And in the spirit of saving green while going green, Green Your Decor is introducing a new feature today, so come back to find out what it is!
