New & Sustainable: True Modern Kids’ Furniture

True Modern Kids\' Furniture

Every time I discover a new company with green goals and products, it reminds me that soon, green will be the rule rather than the exception. When I’m walking through the aisles at the grocery store, I see more and more green products. It can be tough to distinguish between the truly green and the greenwashed, but with a little education and eventually with regulations, it will become clearer which companies are putting their money where their mouths are. Thanks to the 2Modern.com newsletter, I’ve found one of those companies.

True Modern is a fairly new company that makes kids’ furniture and textiles. All of their furniture is made of sustainably harvested birch plywood and uses low-VOC finishes. In the current market, you can easily pay $1000+ for eco-friendly kids’ furniture, so it is nice to see a collection at a lower price point. I would go so far as to call it super-affordable, but it is on the lower end of the pricing scale for green furniture collections that are available now. I also tend to think of furniture as an investment rather than an expensive burden. If you buy smart, and take care of it, the furniture you invest in can last a lifetime.

The collection includes six pieces: a nightstand, bookcase, dresser, low dresser, changing table and twin bed, all featuring clean lines and vibrant colors that are perfect for kids’ and teens’ bedrooms.

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of sustainably-harvested birch ply
  • Feature non-toxic finishes

Price: $399-799

I think you might have mixed that up. I would want green to be the rule not the exception .

We bought the bed and low dresser for our son. It looks slick and modern. I love the clean lines and “uncluttered” feel. Eco & green production is a huge benefit as well.

@Fashion Hippo That’s awesome! Have you received the bed and dresser yet? If so, I’d love to hear what you think of them in person.

Love them! Very good quality & modern. I actually worked directly with the designer/owner, he is a really down to earth and nice guy, comitted to quality.
