As I prepare for SXSW, I am making a mental (and written) checklist of all the things I need to take with me. It’s been literally years since I’ve been on a plane, so I admit I’m not at all up to speed on the latest travel practices. Thinking about all the tiny bottles I’ll need to carry my lotion and body wash, the fees for checking a bag, etc. is all making my head spin. I used to like traveling with my own pillow so I could get really comfortable on flights, but I doubt I’ll want to take one on this trip. But I spied this comfy blanket/pillow combo at Uncommon Goods that just might make me change my mind.
The Tree of Life pillow and blanket are made from leftover material collected from apparel and upholstery factories that would otherwise be discarded. I love the deep charcoal background color and the pop of cream for the tree of life graphic. If it looks familiar, you may remember it from the wall sculpture in the Green Room in a Box design I did for Dan, one of my readers. You can get your own from Gaiam.
I’ve been trying to find some background information about the Tree of Life Designs, to no avail. For now, I’ll make my own interpretation and appreciate the connotation that trees are a major source of life. It just makes me want to go out an hug a couple
Why It’s Green:
- Made of fabric scraps collected from apparel and upholstery factories (75% recycled cotton, 25% acrylic)
- Made in the U.S.
Price: $65 (aff)
