You certainly have an eye for this stuff, Jennae. Seriously. I don't know how you do it. I wish I could envision something like this without trying to stay in a consistent color scheme. It's a habit I'm trying to break.

I'm going to keep an eye on those shades for our bedroom. I can't wait to see your ideas come to life!

Great suggestions so far, ladies. We'll definitely have to look into the concrete stain and find out how much it costs and if its something we can do ourselves.

@ Diane You have some great ideas! For the blinds, we plan to secure them to the ceiling and the walls so blowing would be minimal. We'll definitely consider a folding screen, though. That's a great idea I hadn't thought of :) And we'll add some plants between the hedges as soon as we can pick up the rubber mulch that we thought was a good idea last year. In theory, it's a great idea, but it looks icky with the red Georgia clay all over it.

We actually have two of those planters, so we were planning to use them on either side of the window and painting them a nice turquoise or coral. And I hadn't thought about painting the front door, but that is an awesome idea! I know my mother would love it.

I'm getting more and more excited about this!

I agree that staining the concrete might be a better idea than tring to scrub it possible leaving it discolored. I am not sure I would stencil it with brick or stone, might be too busy next to the brick walls. But a nice solid stain would work. Plenty of colorful bedding plants in between the bushes. Paint the front door a different color than the white. (low VOC paint, of course) Not sure I like the bamboo blind idea to hide the nook. Wont the wind blow it? I would pot large trees and put them in front therefore hiding the "stuff". The greenery will soften the hard look of all the brick. Of you could attach a folding screen to one wall so it could be folded back when not in use. I would also move the pot to the left of the front door inbetween the window and door and paint it a bright happy color and fill it with something easy to care for like bright red and white geraniums that will spill over. roll the hose up and attach to the wall with an iron hose holder matching your iron wall hanging. I have gone on enough. As a decorator I cant stop myself but good job. Cant wait to see the final photos.

I can't wait to see the whole room put together. I have a suggestion for the concrete. There is a special paint that you can use on the concrete to stain it and make it look like tile or stone. Scrubbing the concrete may not get rid of the stains, painting with the special paint will give the room a whole new look. Also, what about shears for the patio? You could close them in the day when the sun is too hot and if you want some privacy.
