A Break from (My) Tradition: Green Depot Spindle Crib

I tend to be pretty averse to any furniture that can be described as traditional, but there are exceptions to every rule, right? The Green Depot Spindle Crib is one of those exceptions for me. Though the styling is very traditional and the details very old world, I can picture it right at home in an incredibly modern nursery, complete with solid carpet tiles in a variety of colors and graphic wall art.

The crib is available in 5 finishes, with black, blue, geen and yellow shown above. As you can see, the finish has a weathered look that gives it a lot of character. It is also available in white, which would be my personal pick, although I’m not sure I’d appreciate the weathered finish in white.

Part of what makes me like this crib so much is the price, a reasonable $795 for a solid piece of furniture made of FSC-certified wood. It is built to last and stay in a family for generations — although I would recommend staying abreast of evolving safety regulations before passing it down. This crib is a great building block for an eco-friendly nursery. Pair it with the Lily Rae Changing Dresser and you’ll be well on your way.

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of FSC-certified wood
  • Formaldehyde-free and lead-free

Price: $795
