When my husband and I started unpacking moving boxes, I realized just how much I hate bare walls. Before this apartment, we had never painted a space we were renting. Instead, we used lots of wall art, from African masks to paintings and shadow boxes, to stave off the feeling of bare, sterile walls. Which means we have a lot to choose from when decking out the walls at our new digs. But some of it just isn’t us anymore. We have a Goodwill pile and a yard sale pile, and we’re looking to eventually replace some of it with higher-quality investment pieces now that we’ve honed our taste. These pieces from Ross Menuez Balsa caught my eye, and I’m loving the colorful nature and ethereal quality of his work.
They are reminiscent of the work of one of my other favorite eco artists, Parvez Taj. Balsa’s work features wildlife and nature scenes in bold colors with a grayscale undertone that makes them really pop. And even better, Balsa’s work is silkscreened on sustainably-harvested balsa wood. At 22″ x 44″ apiece, these are substantial pieces that you can really build a room around. In fact, I’m hoping to build a room around one of them myself
Why It’s Green:

Hi there,
Nice blog you have here. You might want to consider including your pictures in the RSS feed excerpt as a lot of people use RSS readers these days (like Google Reader) and won’t subscribe to your blog unless your excerpt gives more than just text. Just a suggestion!
@Becky Thanks for the suggestion! I had switched to excerpts to discourage unscrupulous websites from ripping off my feed, which had happened several times in the past. But I actually went ahead and switched back to a full feed just last night for the sake of my readers, so you’ll be able to get full posts from now on
