Green Steal of the Week: Reclaimed Wood Medallion

Over the past few weeks, I have been obsessing about what to put on the wall behind our sectional. Given the huge size of the sofa, we can’t go with something too small or it will be dwarfed in comparison. I don’t know if this reclaimed wood medallion/votive candleholder from Pottery Barn is it, but it is certainly a step in the right direction. And given the sale price of just $70, I’m going to have to pull out the tape measure and my visualization skills in order.

The teak look doesn’t really work with our decor, but (I know I may be crucified for saying this) I could always cover it with a coat of white spray paint.

On second thought, that would make it entirely too beachy for me, but someone has got to take advantage of this great deal. With the holidays coming up, this would be a great way to introduce candlelight into your decor. Just make sure you use soy or beeswax candles. You don’t want the toxins from petroleum-based paraffin stinking up the festivities.

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of solid teak, 60% of which is reclaimed from Indonesian fishing boats

Price: $69.99 (on sale from $179.99)

Origin: Not certain where it was made, but the teak was imported from Indonesia

Wow, I love that! Reclaimed teak is my favorite wood.
