If you’re a regular reader of Green Your Decor, you know by now that I’m a graphic designer by trade. And if you’re a new reader, you know now
While I’m generally too busy to do any design work for myself, sometimes I get the itch to make things look different. Thus, as much as I love the compliments I get from everyone about the design of GYD, it’s time for something new.
Over the coming weekend (otherwise known as my “off” days), I’ll be updating GYD to the latest version of Thesis (the best WordPress theme ever made) and installing the new design. So please bear with me throughout the next few days if you visit during this reconstruction. But it’s been a long time coming, and there’s no time to tackle it like the present. I promise that the new design will be better than ever. While it will maintain many of the features you have become accustomed to, there will also be a couple of new ones to get your hearts racing. Ok…maybe not YOUR hearts, but I’m sure excited about it!
So I’ll see you back here on Monday to unveil the new design, right? Right!

I’m Jennae Petersen, and I’m a lot of things. A mother, a graphic artist, a connosieur of beautiful interiors and a purveyor of all things design. Green Your Decor was borne of frustration in my attempts to find eco-friendly housewares that were also beautiful, and inspiration to do something to reduce my own carbon footprint and help others do the same in a beautiful way.

So excited to see what’s coming!
Sounds exciting! Can’t wait~
I was about to say that it was about to GO DOWN, but it already has and I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
Why, thank you dear! I got a little excited and couldn’t wait, so I started installing it as soon as everyone went to sleep last night. Which also means that I didn’t sleep last night at all. But it was worth it
Still some tweaks to make, but I’m almost there!
The design looks super, but my favorite part is the energy-saving screen mode. Screens are big users of electricity! Is that something you get through Wordpress?
I just published a post about all the new features: http://tinyurl.com/y9j7m8n
But to answer your question here, I used a plugin called Online Leaf to switch automatically to energy saving mode. I think it’s pretty much the best thing since sliced bread. I still get a kick out of seeing it switch. You can get it here: http://tinyurl.com/y8l3vur
