If you’ve been making the rounds on the design blogs today, you know that it’s #NateDay on Twitter and in blogland. Basically, we’re all excited that ever-fabulous interior designer Nate Berkus, of Oprah fame, finally has his own show, which premieres September 13. As much as I love HGTV, I have to admit that I get tired of shows like “House Hunters” and “Designed to Sell.” I can’t wait to watch an entire show dedicated to style and fabulous interiors by a man who really knows what he’s doing.
There are a few things about Nate Berkus that go without saying: The man has impeccable taste, and he creates timeless designs that are still relevant even years later.
Of course, I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t hope for more elements of sustainability in the furniture collection he sells via HSN. I want to see organic fabrics, FSC-certified woods and recycled parts, but I have to say — I DO love the fact that his design firm chooses vintage pieces 80% of the time. His favorite website is 1stDibs, and he definitely has an eye for what works among the hundreds, if not thousands, of gorgeous pieces to be found there. He is a style icon, by any definition, and his work constantly inspires me. What to see what I mean? Here are some of my favorite examples:

The ladies of the mogg blog started #NateDay in hopes of convincing Mr. Berkus to populate the entire audience of his show with design bloggers for one episode. I love this idea, and if the participation of the blogosphere is any indication, everyone else does too. The man is talented — there’s no denying that. And if this day serves no other purpose than to recognize him for that, then I say job well done.

I too love the first photo you posted and think it would be great for Nate to come out with a line of organic fabrics!
i get tired of those shows too! i feel like they train my clients to make really boring decisions on color/decor!
