We’re thinking of trading in the gas hog. Gas prices, need I say more? Can you feature car comparisons so I don’t have to do the research? I value your opinion and it’s not ALL about the gas, it’s about where the car is made and should I give money to that and it’s about hybrid vs.just regular old.

I have two dogs that are endless sources of dog hair!! Everywhere!! Guests can’t come over and sit anywhere without taking a little extra something back with them. I would like to see suggestions on safe ways to stay ahead of that game. I would appreciate it and so would my friends and family. Thanks!

I want to thank all of you who have participated in the second-chance contest thus far. Your entries have been recorded. I do, however, want to mention that when you are making your suggestions, remember that Green Your Decor focuses on home decorating and related topics. So while I certainly appreciate the suggestion about car comparisons, that is not a subject I would be likely to write on. Thanks a bunch, and keep reading GYD!

What a fabulous contest drawing! Our family made a commitment earlier this year to do our part for the environment. We have begun with small steps like turning down the water temperature on our water heater. Each of us takes much shorter showers! We plan on turning up the thermostat in the summer and turning the temperature down in the winter. I recycle everything that I possibly can. I have been told that most of the curbside recyclables are taken to land fills and not actually recycled. I would love to see more articles about the fact/fiction of recycling. Thanks very much…..Cindi

I’d like to see more about being green by using stuff we already own, even if its not “organic”. It seems like we always are told to rebuy stuff in order to be green.

Thank you everyone for your entries thus far.
@ Kam A: That is a really great idea. I’m working on getting some people who are knowledgeable about crafts and recycling projects to either guest post or allow me to feature some of their projects.

@ Alice Hansen: It definitely can tend to feel like we are being bombarded by “green” consumerism. I don’t advocate getting rid of anything you already own to buy a greener alternative. But I do recommend that if you are in the market for a new product — meaning you need it or would buy it whether it were green or not — that it is a good idea to be aware that there are eco-friendly options available.

@ Vickie Couturier: You can find lots of candles at: http://www.greenyourdecor.com/?cat=18

Keep those suggestions coming and keep reading GYD!

I want to find some sturdy easy to install clothes pole, or umbrella drying system or retractable clothes line system. Retailers in my area don’t carry them.

I would love to see more “Green” cooking and kitchen options. I would love to find ways to feed my family healthy while taking care of the enviroment.

I also would love to know about “Green” cleaning products.

Another thing I would love to learn is ways of teaching the kids how to be “Green”.

Thank you!!!

I would mainly just like to know what kind of companies exist and about the products they sell that are green. It doesn’t appear there are always that many options out there but I’d like to patronize those that do! Oh, and more on green cleaning products (like which ones work the best… I don’t want to spend a ton of money trying out all the different ones since it does get expensive!).

I would love to see an article comparing green cleaning products, particularly those geared to allergy sensitive people. I have MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity) so sometimes even “all natural” And “hypoallergenic” cleaners mean misery for me!
Thanks!

I would love to read in depth reviews about the major green decor products available. Especially stuff like how long they would last, how durable they are, how they can be cleaned etc. I feel like there are many things to choose from but not enough information on the pros and cons. I feel like I need to know everything to make an informed decision about how it will suit my family needs. Especially with things like flooring etc.

I like Judy’s idea of comparing household products, or simply having a list of those that are greener, or some recipes for making our own out of environment friendly ingredients.
Also, with kids grown up and grandkids far away I would like some ideas for adult uses for recycling a lot of items. We have no recycling center within 50 miles of us.

I am very interested in simplifying life. We are constantly bombarded by ads that make us think we want or need something. I need help on sifting through when is enough enough? Do our children really need the latest gadget? How do we live in the present with less that makes our life worth so much more? I have been taking one small step at a time for the last few years and have made dramatic progress on changing our lives. Things take a while to become habits so going slow, but maintaining changes is so important. I really enjoy reading snippets of information that help me on my journey!
