My husband and I have dreams of building a beautiful, green prefab home, complete with a modern aesthetic that would make it stand out from the traditional homes you can find in Georgia. And while we’re in no position to act on that dream just yet, today is one of those days when I really wish that we were.
This week, you can purchase the Dwell Home Finisterre 1115 Architectural Home Plan at Gilt Groupe. But what makes it an incredible deal is that it’s listed for 50% off the normal rate: $12,500 as opposed to $25,000. Obviously, that’s more than a drop in the bucket to most people, but if you’re in the market for a home plan, this is a great opportunity to save. With purchase, you’d also receive architectural services by Turkel Designs to customize the plan to fit your needs.
The number 1115 actually represents the square footage of the home, split over two levels. The first floor includes a kitchen, half bathroom, dining area, living room and deck, with two bedrooms, one bathroom and a roof deck on the second floor. It is a contemporary home that I can easily imagine as a first home for a small family. Because of the small footprint, it looks like it wouldn’t require much land.
According to the description at Gilt, the home will have “sustainable design elements.” They don’t go into a lot of detail about what those elements are, but if you’re interested, you could always get a list of materials and components from Turkel Designs. Traditionally, the Dwell Homes have always had significant sustainable elements. The home may be manufactured or site-built. Manufactured homes, as a general rule, have smaller carbon footprints than site-built ones.
