Picnic with a Conscience: Eco Friendly Flatware Set For Two

Eco-Friendly Bamboo Flatware Set & Case

I’ve mentioned more than once that disposables are the bane of my existence. When I look back at how many of them I’ve thrown away over my lifetime, the vast majority before I become ecologically enlightened, I’m ashamed at my own wastefulness. Thankfully, I now know better and consequently am doing better. Disposable flatware was the easiest to give up. Sure, it’s a pain to wash 10-20 forks and spoons every day, but I’d much prefer to do that than have all those throwaways clogging the landfill for all eternity.

Eco-Friendly Bamboo Flatware Set & Case

This cute flatware set is another example of the Etsy ingenuity I admire so much. This set from Pony Up Design includes 2 pairs of chopsticks, along with 2 forks, spoons and knives, all made of bamboo. The set comes in a handy, stylish case made of cotton (wish it was organic) and comes complete with 2 reusable napkins made of a blend of bamboo and cotton. The utensils roll up neatly inside the case, so you can easily stick it in a purse or glove compartment to avoid using disposables when you eat out. Don’t like these fabrics? Other colors and prints are available.

And because you can also get single flatware sets, can you imagine how stylish and fun backyard picnics with the kids would be if everyone had their own set? And if you can spring for it, they’d also make great take-home gifts for a birthday party. Too cute!  That actually gets my wheels turning a bit since my wee one’s birthday is on the horizon…
