Spice Up Your Walls: Vintage Fabric Wall Art

Vintage Fabric Wall Art by Poppy Cotton

Blank, bare walls bore me. Even if all I put up is a yellow Post It note reminding me to put the trash out on the curb on Tuesdays, I just want something there to stimulate me. I have all these fantastic ideas about hand-painted murals throughout my home, and I love the idea of adding texture by using 3-D elements like Inhabit’s ShangriLa wall flats.

But lets face it — when most people think of decorating their walls, a gallon or 2 of paint and some ready-to-hang artwork is typically what they mean.  If you’re looking for something easy and green, Poppy Cotton has got your number.

Their wall hangings are made of vintage fabrics stretched over canvas-covered wooden frames.  I’m not sure if the frames are made of sustainable wood or if the canvas is organic, but I couldn’t resist the vibrant patterns of these fabrics.

Two of my favorites are shown above. The Art Nouveau Poppies art uses one of my most loved color combinations: peach, gray and white.  The fan coral wall hanging reminds me of my Caribbean roots and my love of the ocean. And the idea that its unlikely I’d ever find these fabrics anywhere else (except maybe some old photographs), makes me love them even more.

Why It’s Green:

  • Uses vintage fabrics

Price: $115

What do you think: Does the fact that this art uses vintage fabrics alone make it green enough for you? Leave a comment and let me know!

Well now that’s a very cool idea for redecorating bedrooms too! I’m always on the lookout for stuff that makes people go wow and easy too. Adding texture to normally flat and as you say boring walls is one of the coolest things! thanks
