I used to hate doormats. They are almost always ugly, and I just never liked the look of one in front of my door. That is, of course, until I realized that I’d much rather leave the remnants of everything I’ve walked on outside the front door instead of inside it. So now that I appreciate them for function more than form, I prefer the bristly kind of doormat that acts as a sort of brush to get all the excess dirt off shoes. In that spirit, I really love this doormat.
Thanks to the creativity and talent of the artist who did the typography, the doormat says “Come In” when you look at it on the way inside and “Go Away” on your way out. My sentiments exactly. Your guests will have a good laugh once they realize what they’re seeing. Or they’ll never speak to you again. Either way, it sends quite a message.
It is also made of durable natural coconut husks, so it has that bristly surface I’m looking for. There’s just one problem — that this doormat is so pretty, I may not want to step on it.
Why It’s Green:
- Made of natural coconut husks
Price: $24 (aff)
How do you feel about doormats? Does function beat form, or would you ditch it if its ugly? And did you get the visual trick in this one at first glance? Leave a comment and let me know!
