I admit that I’ve never been big on tablecloths. I’ve always thought they are more trouble than they’re worth, especially with a toddler at home. I do love placemats because they confine messes to a small, easier-to-clean area — unlike having to wash an entire tablecloth for one unfortunate stain.
That said, I may have to rethink my position with the discovery of these beautiful linens. The Helsinki Organic Tablecloths are absolutely beautiful and feature a lovely damask pattern — and I love damask. In fact, damask is one of the few “traditional” patterns I’d ever let anywhere near my home.
Made of organic cotton, dressing your table in these will instantly transform your dining area from a casual lunch with the kids to a sophisticated, luxurious setting for a grown-up dinner. Add the matching napkins or placemats, possibly in a contrasting color as shown in the photo, along with some great recycled tableware and candles, and you’ve got instant mealtime drama.
Why It’s Green:
- Made of 100% organic cotton
- Colored with low-impact dyes
Price: $94.50-175.50 (price based on size)

Ouch! That is a hefty price tag for a tablecloth. I would need a big size. I think I would probably be better off buying one used at a yard sale or estate sale.

@Kris C They definitely are gorgeous to look at
@ Tiffany That is a hefty price tag, but to put it into perspective, one yard of a quality organic cotton damask will run you between $90-130, so you’d definitely be paying for quality. I’m not likely to use it often, so I probably won’t buy one, as much as I like the print. But for those who love and use table linens, it would be a worthwhile purchase. A used one is great too, though, and used is as green as it gets
