Thanks to one of my favorite green blogs, EcoSalon, today I discovered a website that made my morning. EcoEtsy is a collaboration of all the artists on etsy.com who are dedicated to the three Rs we all know so well — reducing, reusing and recycling. They categorize all the shop owners who sell green products. I feel like I’ve hit a green jackpot! There are so many wonderful items and sellers, and now I won’t have to spend hours on end trying to find those that make use of sustainable practices. I’ll do my best to feature as many of them as I can.
First up is this awesome, organic bird pillow by chakrapennywhistle. Readers, many of you know how fond I am of birds. In fact, do a search on Green Your Decor for “birds” or “birdies”, and you’ll see how many times I have mentioned them and featured products with bird motifs. So it’s only natural that I’d be instantly drawn to these pillows.
The birds and colors are whimsical and gorgeous, but more important than that, they’re green.
The pillow is made from 100% organic cotton twill, stuffed with raw organic cotton and sewn with organic cotton thread.Green from start to finish. And its that kind of attention to detail that will make ecoetsy one of my favorite sites to visit for a long time to come. So be sure to check out chakrapennywhistle’s store! There are several other pillows made in the same way.
Why It’s Green:
- Handmade
- Made of 100% organic cotton twill and organic cotton thread
- Stuffed with raw organic cotton
- Uses water-based inks
Price: $40

I’m Jennae Petersen, and I’m a lot of things. A mother, a graphic artist, a connosieur of beautiful interiors and a purveyor of all things design. Green Your Decor was borne of frustration in my attempts to find eco-friendly housewares that were also beautiful, and inspiration to do something to reduce my own carbon footprint and help others do the same in a beautiful way.

Woo hoo! EcoEtsy. Sounds freaking awesome. Hope you don’t mind if I (someday) post about it!
And those pillows are adorable!
I love birds too. One look at my blog header would confirm that. Ha! EcoEtsy? I had no idea they had that. Going to look now.
These little pillows are adorable. I’d love to get some of them.
I love these adorable “bird” pillows! So cute! I may just have to buy some!
Thanks for the Eco Etsy shout out! It’s truly a great resource.
