EcoEtsy Treasure Trove #2: Hearty Red Handpainted mirror

Hearty Red Handpainted Mirror by Sanguinaria

These days, every time I find something gorgeously handmade, it makes me wonder why I never thought to shop for handmade products before. I think it’s because so many of us are programmed to head to our nearest mall or superstore when we want to make a purchase. Thanks to websites like etsy, handmade products are now just as convenient, and they are much easier on the Earth than ttheir mass-produced counterparts.

This Hearty Red Handpainted Mirror by Sanguinaria has an especially small footprint. It is made almost entirely of recycled and reclaimed materials — only the screweyes used to hold it together are new. You have to appreciate an artisan with a conscience, not to mention exceptional talent. The hand-painted wood pattern in red and yellow is funky and fun. And at 10 1/8″ square, it is the perfect size for applying your favorite organic lipstick.

Why It’s Green:

  • Handmade
  • Frame and paints used were recovered from the trash

Price: $25

I heart this mirror too. I’m a sucker for orange-y reds.
