Post image for Large & Lovely: Recycled Magazines Wall Mirror

A few months ago, I featured a clock made by an ingenious Etsy seller c2design of recycled magazine pages and a CD. I fell in love with that clock, and I love it still, but it is just too small for the place where I want to put it. So when I stumbled on this beauty at Organize.com, I felt like I had struck gold.

Post image for Green & Glistening: Recycled Aluminum Miami Garden Seat

I’ve always been a fan of the look of shiny chrome in my home, but as my tastes became more refined, the idea of too much chrome was just too stark and industrial for me. Clean lines are great, but I want my home to look like people live in it — not robots. But every once in a while, I’ll find a piece that manages to take my love for shiny things and mesh it with a look that is more classic and soft.  That is exactly the case here with the Miami Garden Seat from Nieman Marcus.

Post image for Nursery Chic: Stylish, Organic Crib Bedding from EGG

I’d venture to say that nursery decorating is one of the most enjoyable household tasks a woman can do. It tends to be easier than other rooms, because you’re generally starting from scratch instead of trying to sort through years worth of stuff. And even if you already have the major pieces, like a crib, rocking chair, etc., making it a unique space for your little one to play and grow is a great feeling. And so I completely understand the drive to make a nursery not just gorgeous, but completely organic and non-toxic and safer for an infant. So by my estimation, organic crib bedding is the only way to go. And this organic crib bedding from EGG? Let’s just say it almost makes me want to have a little egg of my own.

My Search for the Perfect, Affordable Green Desk

by jennae on February 22, 2010

Post image for My Search for the Perfect, Affordable Green Desk

As much as I love to decorate, sometimes I really hate shopping for furniture. Why, you ask? Simply put, because of my conscience.

I am in the market for a new desk. In order to be closer to my daughter’s doctors, we are moving about an hour away into a smaller apartment. We currently use our third bedroom as a studio/office space. In the new apartment, I will have to use the small, narrow sunroom as an office space. This necessitates buying a new desk, because my current one is entirely too large for the space.

Eating on Art: Terrafirma Natural Dinnerware

by jennae on February 16, 2010

Post image for Eating on Art: Terrafirma Natural Dinnerware

Disposable plates are not welcome in my home. I kick myself every time I eat out and forget to use my own container, but behind my front door? The only disposable plates you’ll find are the Dora the Explorer paper plates left over from my daughter’s 2nd birthday party more than 2 years ago. They still haven’t been used, and it’s unlikely they ever will be. I prefer to use actual plates, most of which are ceramic. So when I find beautiful, handmade plates that will stand out on my dinner table, I take notice. Make them blue and sell them for 50% off, and it’s all I can do to stop myself from whipping out the debit card.
