As much as I love our little patio, I don’t spend as much time out there as I’d like. It’s a shame really, because living on the third floor at the back of our building means we get a whole lot of breeze. Now that the stifling Georgia summer has given way to a much milder fall, I plan to spend a lot more time out there. And hopefully, the newest addition to our patio means I’ll have some company.

How long ago was it that I first talked about refinishing my daughter’s IKEA Malm dresser? It was sometime early this year, I think. Well, I’ve finally gotten around to it, and I LOVE the result!
Pinterest has been the catalyst of a lot of projects around here lately. I can spend hours getting lost in inspiration there, but I’ve been trying to take more of that inspiration and turn it into real projects. When I found the photo shown below, I knew I wanted to recreate something similar in Ja’Naya’s room.

Slowly, but surely, I’ve been doing little projects to complete my daughter’s room. Pencils. Notebooks. Crayons. Markers. School supply lists for kids in elementary school tend to look the same. As a result, the supplies we parents buy tend to look the same as well. This year, I was determined to make at least one item on my daughter’s back-to-school list by hand. Ever since we moved into our new place, we’ve been spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to place all of our old stuff. For example, I was absolutely in love with the design of my daughter’s room in the old apartment. However, the design was very specific to that space.
