As much as I love our little patio, I don’t spend as much time out there as I’d like. It’s a shame really, because living on the third floor at the back of our building means we get a whole lot of breeze. Now that the stifling Georgia summer has given way to a much milder fall, I plan to spend a lot more time out there. And hopefully, the newest addition to our patio means I’ll have some company.

How long ago was it that I first talked about refinishing my daughter’s IKEA Malm dresser? It was sometime early this year, I think. Well, I’ve finally gotten around to it, and I LOVE the result!
Pinterest has been the catalyst of a lot of projects around here lately. I can spend hours getting lost in inspiration there, but I’ve been trying to take more of that inspiration and turn it into real projects. When I found the photo shown below, I knew I wanted to recreate something similar in Ja’Naya’s room.

Pencils. Notebooks. Crayons. Markers. School supply lists for kids in elementary school tend to look the same. As a result, the supplies we parents buy tend to look the same as well. This year, I was determined to make at least one item on my daughter’s back-to-school list by hand. Ever since we moved into our new place, we’ve been spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to place all of our old stuff. For example, I was absolutely in love with the design of my daughter’s room in the old apartment. However, the design was very specific to that space.
