A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I had won a photo shoot in a contest about celebrating self love. Well, I finally want to share the results of that. The photos were shot by the awesome Kahran and Reg from Creative Soul Photography. They made me feel much more at ease than I expected, and it was a great experience. So here goes nothing:

I took this photo of Ja’Naya last weekend when we were playing at the park. It is a great reminder that we have so much to be thankful for. This week, though, our thanks are tenfold. She has officially reached the “maintenance” phase of her treatment! This means that weekly visits to the clinic will be reduced to every other week, then monthly. Regular readers will know how big a deal this is, but for those of you who are new to Green Your Decor, feel free to read about my daughter’s diagnosis and her hair
There are a million things I could say about the oil spill, a million photos I could show of birds, turtles and dolphins covered in oil, and a million different names I could call BP. But I think Mos Def, Lenny Kravitz, the Preservation Hall Band, Trombone Shorty, and Tim Robbins said it pretty well. They teamed up recently to record “It Ain’t My Fault” to benefit Gulf Aid, a nonprofit created in response to the oil spill off the Louisiana Coast. Check out the video:

Everyone was SO supportive when she was first diagnosed with leukemia back in January, which almost seems like a lifetime ago. The least I can do is let you know how she’s doing. Green Your Decor was borne of frustration in my attempts to find eco-friendly housewares that were also beautiful, and inspiration to do something to reduce my own carbon footprint and help others do the same in a beautiful way.
I get this question a lot, so I wanted to make the answer easy to find. Yes, I am a graphic designer, and I designed this site myself. The theme I’m using is called Thesis, and I think it’s the best WordPress theme out there. Your site can look pretty much any way you want it to. Want to know more?
