As much as I love eco-friendly decorating and will go the extra mile to find a used or sustainably-made version of anything I need, even I sometimes get burned out on the high cost that is so often associated with truly green products. I understand the reason behind the pricing, to some extent, but it’s still nice to find a beautiful, green product for a reasonable price. Besides, it’s been too long since I’ve featured a Green Steal of the Week
These stools, woven from sustainable water hyacinth, and organic cotton napkins are a good way to end the dry spell.

Olio United is one of my go-to online retailers when I’m looking for style and substance. They carry a wide variety of stylish green fashion and housewares, and I bought one of my favorite pairs of shoes from them: my purple Melissa Ultragirl eco-friendly slingbacks. Starting today, Olio is hosting an online trunk sale for home products from six awesome designers: Furni Creations, Hammocks & High Tea, Jill Bliss, Kiku, Pigeon Toe Ceramics and Paper Cloud. Just click the “Shop Trunk Shows” link the sidebar to get started.

Small though they may be, children are expensive to raise, sometimes more so when you’re trying to raise them with green values. So when I find Nurseryworks eco-friendly furniture on sale for 50-70% off, I take notice.
I’ve had my eye on the Nurseryworks Storytime Bookcase, top left, and Vale Headboard for quite some time now, so I’m ecstatic that fawn & forest has slashed prices on these, and many other Nurseryworks items. This is one of my favorite manufacturers of modern, incredibly stylish furniture for kids that also happen to be sustainably made and non-toxic.

If you have a bar counter in your kitchen, you know that they are a great place to add extra seating in the form of barstools. We currently have two old black ones that were basically the cheapest we could find at the time. Sure, they’re still in decent condition, if you don’t mind a wobble or two when you’re sitting down and getting back up. My problem is that my daughter thinks they are a ride at an amusement park, and she gets a kick out of spinning the stools, even when they are empty. So when we move into our own place, we’ll probably put our current stools in the yard sale pile and upgrade to something more stylish with no spinning parts.
