Nursery

Call me crazy, but I am in love with these little animal figurines from Etsy seller enormouschampion! I found the fox first, but it didn’t take long for me to fall for the kangaroo, squirrels and love birds (y’all KNOW how much I love birds :) ). I think they’d be incredibly cute in a nursery or child’s room, and I’d love to have the company of a fox or kangaroo while sitting at my desk all day. And I DO need a paperweight (how come noone ever told me that Kindergarten comes with tons of paper brought home daily?)

There are probably very few people who shop online and don’t know about Gilt Groupe. It is an online-only retailer that offers typically high-end products for seriously reduced prices, but only for a limited time. The sales typically last 24-96 hours, so if you see something you need (not want), you need to act fast. This is one of the cases when Gilt Groupe is not just offering eco-friendly products, but products that could really help anyone setting up a nursery or a room for a child do so for a significantly reduced cost.

The Missing Piece: Organic Cotton Lamp Shade(s)

by jennae on September 13, 2010

It happens to the best of us. We’ll start a project or begin decorating a room, only to let it fall by the wayside because of the one or two small tasks we were unable to finish. The smallest space in our home, and the one I use the most often,  fell victim to this: My office space.  But I’m determined to finish it, and soon.

I have spent months with baby fever, in part because so many of my blogging friends recently had or are having babies and I wanted to remember what it felt like again. Sending my daughter off to kindergarten only multiplied that effect, although I wonder how wise it is to wish for an infant now that the house is finally quiet in the daytime…lol. Still, I find myself intrigued by all things baby, so these deals definitely caught my attention. First up is the gorgeous bedding set by Ferm Living shown above. It is crib sized, but most experts do not recommend putting a duvet in a crib with a sleeping infant, so it would probably best be used on a toddler bed. It comes with a pillow case and duvet in a matching storage bag.

A little while back when we finished my daughter’s room, you might remember that there was a blank spot on one side of the room that was waiting for something special: custom-built Owyn toy box donated by Mod Mom Furniture. Well, Owyn is here, and I can unequivocally say that he was well worth the wait.

Previously, all of Ja’Naya’s larger toys were housed inside a large, blue plastic bin that we acquired sometime over the past few years in one of our moves. It was functional, but it was hideous — which is why I kept it hidden away as much as possible. Owyn, on the other hand, will live proudly next to the wall we like to call the “art gallery.” Here he is in the context of the whole room:
