It’s not often that I come across a website that makes me really stop and pay attention. At first glance, Furnicology.com is just another blog about green design. Admirable, to be certain, but not much different from many of the other green sites I come across every day. Except they’re not the same at all.

Yes, Furnicology will help you find gorgeous, sustainably-made products for your home. But more than that, their goal is much like the goals of Green Your Decor: to educate the consumer about what makes a product or a manufacturer green, how to weigh the pros and cons of a purchase, and how to ultimately decide for yourself how green is green enough.

Furnicology understands that before you can really buy green, you have to understand what green is, and it’s much more than just the marketing term PR reps would have you believe it is. Diagrams like the one shown above and even a dictionary of sustainable design terms are provided to help consumers make an informed decision. They also get that true sustainability will be born of collaboration. Furnicology has built a community to allow consumers, designers and design professionals alike to share ideas and information about sustainability.

I’ll  be taking advantage of this great resource, and something tells me many of you will want to do the same.
