Rooms in a Box Series

Today’s Green Room in a Box is part of a special project that is really near and dear to me. My family has been through a lot in the last several months since my daughter’s diagnosis, but none of us have been through more than Ja’Naya herself. She is doing really well with her treatment and handling it like a trooper, but my husband and I wanted to do something special for her to help ease the transition. Next week, my family is moving to be closer to her doctors, and we decided to completely redecorate her room (in eco-friendly fashion, of course) so she’ll have a special place to play and relax, especially after long days at the clinic.

Mid-Mod Bedroom: It’s been a long while since I’ve done a Green Room in a Box, but there’s no time like the present to get started again, right? Today’s room is sponsored by one of my all-time favorite companies for eco-friendly home decor, Amenity. The design is a heavy mix of old and new that meets somewhere in the middle for an eclectic, but sophisticated look.

I mentioned a couple of times that my husband and I are finally getting ready to move into our own place. After 2 years of living with family, it is a welcome change. This impending move has made me rack my brain trying to remember what furnishings we have in storage and what we need to make our new space complete. One detail I can’t possibly forget? We have a huge red sectional and blonde wood entertainment center that we bought when we didn’t know better. It wouldn’t be very green of me to get rid of them just because I don’t like the colors, so here’s my plan to make our new living room work around it. What do you think? Does it work?

I’ve been excited about bringing this Green Room in a Box from an idea to reality ever since I first posted it. It’s amazing how easy it is to get sidetracked on a decorating project. If it took my husband and I 2 months long to complete a patio makeover, I can imagine how long it would have taken us to do a kitchen!

mancave-under5000

My husband I have an idea in mind for our dream home, and it includes 2 rooms that we think will be essential to our sanity with our kids running around — my private office and his man cave. Every man needs a place where he can close the door and watch the football game uninterrupted, right? (Ladies, don’t kill me for saying that :) ). My husband challenged me last week to create a man cave that’s as green as it is masculine. This is the result of that challenge.
