I mentioned a couple of times that my husband and I are finally getting ready to move into our own place. After 2 years of living with family, it is a welcome change. This impending move has made me rack my brain trying to remember what furnishings we have in storage and what we need to make our new space complete. One detail I can’t possibly forget? We have a huge red sectional and blonde wood entertainment center that we bought when we didn’t know better. It wouldn’t be very green of me to get rid of them just because I don’t like the colors, so here’s my plan to make our new living room work around it. What do you think? Does it work?
Rooms in a Box Series
I’ve been excited about bringing this Green Room in a Box from an idea to reality ever since I first posted it. It’s amazing how easy it is to get sidetracked on a decorating project. If it took my husband and I 2 months long to complete a patio makeover, I can imagine how long it would have taken us to do a kitchen!
My husband I have an idea in mind for our dream home, and it includes 2 rooms that we think will be essential to our sanity with our kids running around — my private office and his man cave. Every man needs a place where he can close the door and watch the football game uninterrupted, right? (Ladies, don’t kill me for saying that
). My husband challenged me last week to create a man cave that’s as green as it is masculine. This is the result of that challenge.
Today’s Room: This Green Room in a Box is special to me. As one of Walmart‘s ElevenMoms, I had an opportunity to purchase up to $600 worth of patio furniture and accessories to create an outdoor living space. Of course, I wanted said furniture to be eco-friendly. Thankfully, and to my surprise, Walmart.com has a pretty decent selection of FSC-certified wood furniture. I added to that some bamboo and recycled glass accessories from Walmart and elsewhere, and I am giving my mom’s front patio a makeover. Below, you’ll see the before pictures. I have ordered the furniture, to be shipped directly to my local Walmart via Site to Store. When I receive it, my husband will spend a few days putting everything together. So for the first time, you’ll be able to see how a Green Room in a Box looks in real life! Are you as excited as I am?
Today’s Room: In honor of Valentine’s Day, I wanted to create a hot, sexy master bedroom that would be the perfect place for an eco-friendly rendezvous. I actually created this room without a budget, so forgive me if the total cost seems outlandish
Complete with spicy red walls and accents with a mix of neutral white, golds and grays, it is an eclectic blends of styles and textures that can make you go into sensory overload. What do you think? Does it get you in the mood for love?
