January 2011

The week has just started and already I’ve found 2 great deals for you!

Amenity is having a huge clearance sale on products that have been discontinued. You’ll find wall art, table linens, pillows and more marked down by up to 75%. Given the quality of their products, you really can’t beat the pricing. I assume the sale will end once everything is sold out, since these are all discontinued items.

Mod Green Pod is also offering their Wee Jubilee fabric in the licorice colorway (black & white) for 50% off. If you’ve ever wanted to try their fabrics but balked at the pricing, now is a good time to do it.

I’ve been aware of Structured Green for nearly as long as I’ve been publishing Green Your Decor. I’ve even been able to see one of their immaculate pieces in person, thanks to the green show home I toured in Marietta back in 2009. The company is a maker of sustainable furniture that is based right here in Georgia, and their stuff is impressive. A few days ago, I ventured over to their site just to see if there was anything new. And hello! I was blown away by their newest table designs.

I don’t write often about my daughter here, mostly because I generally prefer to embrace the normalcy of our lives than to talk about her battle with leukemia. She’s doing well — wonderful in fact, and she hasn’t let any of it slow her down. Not even a little. Doctor’s appointments are a mere blip on our radars now, and in between, she’s just a normal little girl who loves to dance to Just Dance 2 and Michael Jackson The Experience :)

I have expressed my admiration for Wabisabi Green’s stylish, organic cotton pillow covers on more than one occasion. And when I received one to review in person last month, it cemented my love. So I’m happy to report that for the next three days, Wabisabi Green pillows are on sale at eco-friendly short-term sale site Pure Citizen. You’ll get 40% off the organic pillow colors and 2 different types of eco-friendly inserts.

The entire collection is on sale, so you should have no problem finding something you like. In fact, I plan to buy a pillow matching the one I reviewed so I can put it on the other side of my sofa :)

One of the things I most wish we could do to our apartment is add lighting where there is none and replace boring fixtures with ones that are more fun. Because to say the least, much of our apartment is dark. All. The. Time. Even with the windows open. So I’m feeling particularly envious of the High-Minded Chandelier and Well-Defined Lamp by Stray Dog Designs for Anthropologie.

Stray Dog has long been one of my favorite makers of sustainable lighting. All of their pieces are made with sustainability in mind, and these two are no exception.
