There will be no shortage of sales this weekend for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. However, since I’m encouraging you to buy green, I thought it might be helpful if I made it easier for you to do that by creating a master list of sales from green retailers or on eco-friendly products. I will add more as I come across them. Know of a sale? Leave it in the comments section or submit it to me here and I’ll add it to the list.
A few years ago, if you had asked me if I planned to shop on Black Friday, I would’ve looked at you like you had three heads. When my green journey began, I thought there was nothing about Black Friday that was compatible with the more sustainable way I was trying to live my life. While that is still largely true, there are ways to partake in this once-a-year super sale without letting go of your conscience. Since these sales can help you save tons of money on items you might end up buying later anyway, here are some tips to make your Black Friday efforts more conscientious and less compulsive:
My regular readers know that I’m an Amy Butler fangirl, and her 100% organic bedding will always be among my most recommended products. In fact, it’s even included in this year’s Green Gift Guide! Plus, I get a LOT of inquiries about her bedding, so when I find it on sale, that warrants an immediate blog post.
Amy Butler bedding is currently on sale at Rue La La for 40-60% off! The Bucharest comforter set, which I use in my master bedroom, is available from $59.90-$89.90 (depending on size), on sale from $180. A wide variety of other patterns are included in the sale, available in duvet and comforter sets, sheet sets, window treatments, coverlets and decorative pillows.
It seems like I just put my daughter on the bus for the first day of school, and already Thanksgiving is near. Where did the time go?
My husband and I cook every year, but we usually don’t have any company. This year, my little brother (who’s not so little any more) and a couple of other family members will be spending the holiday with us so I feel challenged to really put on a good show, complete with a wonderful meal and beautiful decor. Of course, there are some things that won’t change, including my intention to make the holiday as eco-friendly as possible.
Every year, I spend weeks upon weeks compiling the best of the best in green gifts for everyone on your list. This year is no different in that regard, but I dare say that this year’s Green Gift Guide is the best yet. I’ve included more than 100 gift ideas in a variety of categories, and I’ve really gone out of my way to make these gifts the kind that people will really want and cherish.
