Got Something to Say? Poet’s Bottles

Poet\'s Bottles

I love the look of glass bottles used as decor accents. Once they are stripped of their labels and grouped, they can become an interesting art piece in your room. You can group all shapes, sizes and colors to create something that is unexpected, completely unique and fabulous. Used on your mantle, or as a centerpiece on your dining table, they are simple, beautiful, and a great incentive to reuse those glass bottles you may have tossed in the recycling bin or the trash.

Clearly I’m not the only one who sees beauty in reusing glass. These awesome poet’s bottles take the idea to the next level. Each recycled wine bottle is sandblasted and etched with words and original phrases. Take the four bottles shown above, for example. Here’s what they say:

  • DREAMS: Drink Deeply & Believe
  • WISDOM: Contains Knowledge, Understanding, Patience, Intuition, And A Dash Of Skepticism
  • LOVE: Warning: Causes Dizziness
  • TRUTH: Caution: Do Not Dilute

There are 17 more options where those came from, and the bottles are available in a variety of colors and styles. My personal favorite? “TIME: Contains Extra Seconds, Minutes & Hours. Caution: Use Wisely! Evaporates Quickly.” I always knew someone would figure out how to sell time in a bottle 🙂

Why It’s Green:

  • Bottles are recycled

Price: $65

Those are really nice. I like the idea and the sand blasted ones give them such a nice personal touch.

These would make a great gift for my sister — she’s an English major heading to grad school to specialize in Poetry! But honestly, $65? Yikes…

These would be really easy to make, actually — definitely MUCH cheaper than $65! Armor Etch is an easy product to use with stencils on the glass, so you can etch in your own quote and be your own poet. You can also make wine bottles into drinking glasses easily — check out for directions (make sure you click on each picture in each step or download the pdf) on cutting and etching. Be more green by doing it yourself. 😉

@Tatiana I made the fatal error of falling head over heels for these before I looked at the price. I can’t lie. $65 seems like a lot to pay for a glass bottle.

@Kristen Thank you, thank you for the link to that instructable! I’m bookmarking that and I’m going to try to make some of these. I’ve just got to look up where I can get some Armor Etch 🙂 I’m not as crafty as I’d like to be, but this is one I really want to try (particularly since I have a couple of green bottles on hand that would be perfect for this). I will post the results!

Glad I could share the info, Jennae! I believe you can easily find Armor Etch or similar products at any craft store (Hobby Lobby, Jo Ann’s, Michael’s, or whatever might be in your area).
