I love eating on fancy plates. Most of the dishes we normally use are white, plain and boring. They were inexpensive and match with everything, but they are boring nonetheless. I’m not asking for much to spice up dinnertime. No dancing girls, fireworks or exotic meals. Just a nice pattern or graphic I can look at once I spoon my way through a pile of rice.
The Ball Tree dinner set from One Eco Home features a simple graphic print that is just interesting enough to satify my inner designer. Even better than that, I love the way this dinnerware is made. The artist buys second hand ceramics and gives them a new life with this awesome screenprint. The set includes a bowl, side plate and dinner plate.
Depending on the size of your family, this could get pretty pricey. But the fact that I can buy a single set means I might be able to get away with buying it just for myself. It would be my special plate. After all, once you have kids, there’s not a whole lot you can call yours alone. And since this design makes me want to go hug a tree right now, it’ll wind up somewhere near the top of my “coveted” list.
Why It’s Green:
- Handmade of recycled ceramics
Price: £35 or about $55

November 11, 2008 at 1:17 pmAll you need to complement the dinner set is a set of wine glasses. Personally, I like the ones from PeaGreenThings because not only do I like the look of them, but they are also a Fair Trade product and are made from recycled glass.
