I am always inspired by photos of beautifully-decorated dining rooms with mix-and-match tableware. Flea market finds, family hand-me-downs and other pieces make their way onto the same table, and they all look great together. I don’t have a lot of dishes in different styles, and even if I did, I’m not sure I’d have the guts to use them all at the same time on purpose. The multiple solid color sets in Target’s Eco-friendly Square Dinnerware Collection might give me a slightly less traumatic way to mix and match.
The pink, blue, green and yellow collections make me think of eating dinner on the back porch on a hot summer night. Each collection includes dinner plates, dessert plates, bowls and cups, all sold in sets of 4. I’d personally like to get a couple of sets in different colors, but there aren’t quite enough people in my family to justify buying more than one. Still, the idea of mixing and matching them is a good one.
Don’t let the glossy finish fool you — these plates are made of bamboo. They are both dishwasher safe and biodegradable, which is a great combination for families. These are going on my wish list.
Why It’s Green:
- Made of bamboo
- Biodegradable
Price: $19.99-29.99 (aff)

March 21, 2011 at 10:28 pmI LOVE this set but have only been able to find the bowls. I had it on my wedding registry, and a friend got us the bowls. However, the plates were very quickly unavailable. Unfortunately, we had already opened the bowls and removed the stickers before realizing the plates would all be discontinued. Does anyone know how to find the dinner plates and salad/dessert plates? I’ve searched everywhere. Thanks, and God bless!
