Just Have a Seat: Inhabit’s Modern Classics Collection

Have you ever come across a product concept and felt like the company came up with it just for you? That’s how I feel about Inhabit’s new Modern Classics Collection. I am seriously ready to pull out my debit card right now, but I wouldn’t know which to buy first! The collection includes pillows, wall art and hanging fabric panels, all featuring striking, colorful silhouettes of some of the most famous and iconic pieces of furniture on the planet: Eames, Bertoia and Barcelona chairs, among others.

As much as I love my comfy Steelcase Amia work chair, I long to sit in a vintage Eames molded plastic chair as I work, with two white Barcelona chairs facing my desk for clients to lounge in. But unless I get lucky on Craigslist (and move into a home where I actually have an office with space for client seating), it will be quite some time before that happens. But thanks to Inhabit, I can now gaze upon the chairs of my dreams as I work.

These new pieces are named simply after the year in which they debuted: 1929, 1946, 1948, 1951 and 1956. The originals may have come well before my time, but that doesn’t stop me from appreciating their impeccable designs. And a couple of these pillows would be perfect in my mom’s new living room, newly refinished with Wilsonart laminate hardwood flooring. It would be a great way to bring in some Mid-Century modern design without going overboard. I feel some design inspiration coming on!
