Green Steal of the Week: Black Bamboo Rug

Green Steal of the Week: Black Bamboo Rug

As much as I love bold black and white patterns, I used to be afraid of solid black. The idea of black furniture, bedding, fabrics or rugs was too much for me. Let’s  just say I wasn’t very open-minded about it. But one thing I have learned in my quest to become a savvy decorator is that any color can work in a room, when used properly.

Green Steal of the Week: Black Bamboo Rug This black bamboo rug from CB2.com is a great example of how to use a color effectively.  On the floor, black can help to anchor a space. And if you’re not fond of the rustic look of natural bamboo, this is a way to incorporate this eco-friendly material without sacrificing your modern aesthetic. Just check it out in this room!

And to sweeten the deal, it costs less than $40, on sale from nearly $100. At 5′ x 8′, that’s a lot of rug for a little money! This rug makes me want to pick a room in my home to decorate bold black and white, with tiny pops of color throughout, maybe on pillows or accessories. Or I could really take the inspiration to the next level and paint a wall black. Ok…maybe not…

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of sustainable bamboo

Price: $39.95 (on sale from $99.95)

I love getting the emails from CB2. Their products are very inspirational in terms of decorating. This rug is cool in black but clean.

I love CB2, so much so that my wife and I are going to San Francisco and one of our points of interest is the new CB2 store. I hope they have this rug because I don’t think I’d ever buy one without being able to touch it.

We don’t leave for SF until the end of the month, but I’ll report back on my findings.

I love black and white designs it’s so classy and elegant. What’s great about black and white is you can add punches of color. The best part is when you get tired on the look, just change the accent color to give the black and white decor a new look and feel.
