Take a Trip to the Islands: Tropical Punch Organic Bedding

by jennae on March 10, 2009

bedding-tropical1I have said on a couple of occasions that I am original from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Growing up in the Caribbean certainly has influenced my design sensibility, and I even rebranded my graphic design business to pay homage to my origins (the new name is Hibiscus Creative).  I also have my hibiscus logo tattooed on my leg. So it can certainly be said that I am fan of all things tropical. I can’t help it. They remind me of home. The new Tropical Punch bedding collection from PB Teen makes me reminisce about the hibiscus plants growing outside our front door and the vibrantly colored bougainvillea bushes growing in every direction. It is available in two gorgeous color combinations: pink/orange and blue/green.

bedding-tropical2The colors make it just a little too girlish for my own use, but I am thinking it would be beautiful in my daughter’s room. You might recall that it is already painted in pink and orange. Finds like this make it exceptionally difficult for me not to go on a shopping spree. The color palette and style would work perfectly with the design direction I’ve already established in her room. I could justify it by saying it is organic, but I’d be lying if I tried to convince myself my daughter needs this bedding. I won’t make any promises that it will stay this way, but for now, my conscience has won over my desire to have something new.

As for that pink and orange capiz shell lamp in the first photo? All bets are off. At least capiz shells are sustainable…

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of organic cotton
  • Oeko-tex certified

Price: $32-119
