Road-Tested: Recycled Rubber Tire Mirror

Recycled Rubber Tire Mirror

I remember watching an episode of the Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs” when host Mike Rowe worked with a company that does tire recovery. They went out to a forest with beautiful scenery along the way. Then all of a sudden in a clearing, tens of thousands of illegally discarded tires. Stacks of them for as far as the eye could see. They spent all day loading a truck with precision to ensure they could fit at least 800 tires on board. They didn’t even put a dent in the pile.

I was appalled, to say the least, so I love finding products that take a commonly discarded material and turn it into something not only useful, but also beautiful. This recycled tire mirror has a tough, rugged exterior, pictured in great contrast to the flowers beside it.  It’s not very large at 12″ x 14″, but its a great size for checking your makeup or hair. And if it takes a few old tires from discarded to delightful, I’m all for it.

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of recycled tires

Price: $50

Hi, Jenna:

Love the blog. Nice design. The recycled mirror is totally groovy, rugged, and sexy all at the same time. Good find.

I am a recycled products FAN, and as such couldn’t resist taking a peek at this mirror.

Missy.

@Missy This one instantly caught my eye. You can clearly tell what it is made of, but the material is given such a beautiful new life that you barely think about where it came from.
