Black is Beautiful: Temple Box from Crate and Barrel

Eco-Friendly Temple Box from Crate & Barrel

My love for all things black and white has returned with a vengeance. It is so sleek and sophisticated, and seeing a recent episode of HGTV’s “Divine Design” didn’t help matters at all. Candice Olsen redesigned a tiny kitchen into a black and white beauty that is worthy of an award. Not only was the new kitchen extraordinarily more functional — it was also ultra modern, complete with high-end appliances and a color scheme perfect for the film buff homeowner and his beloved parrot.

When I found this awesome Temple Box from Crate & Barrel, it reminded me of that kitchen.  In fact, I think it would make an ultra sexy, though slightly pricey, cookie jar — but it is recommended for decorative use only. It is a bit disappointing that it isn’t meant to be functional, but it is a gorgeous piece of artistry. Made of eco-friendly mango wood, it has an ornate finial knob that feels somewhat Moroccan, but definitely exotic. For me, this is the type of piece that can inspire an eclectic, though monochromatic, room.

Why It’s Green:

  • Made of sustainable mango wood. I’m unsure if the finishes are zero-VOC or non-toxic

Price: $69.95
