My husband and I are certified candle connoisseurs. OK…maybe we’re not certified, but we have a thing for candles. Natural, nontoxic ones, that is. So when Soy Delites contacted me to send samples for my review, I couldn’t say no. And let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed.

Opening of the Greenheart store in Chicago

There are lots of reasons to love my iPhone, but one of the most prominent is that I can easily stay in touch on the go. For example, on Thursday while I was at BlogHer business, I happened to catch a tweet about the Fair Trade Fiesta opening party for the new Greenheart brick and mortar store. I clicked the link, only to learn that the store was right there in Chicago. I have featured Greenheart’s online store before here at Green Your Decor, so I jumped at the chance to see their offerings in person. My good friend Sheena from Mommy Daddy Blog and I hopped in a cab and headed over to the store.

PR representatives will often approach me about an environmental initiative some huge company is starting, and generally, those emails will wind up in my trash folder. But every once in a while, there’s an initiative that hits home. HP’s Power to Change challenge is one of those exceptions. So why does it resonate with me so much? Well, because it doesn’t require any money, it’s a simple change, it really can help us save energy (and money) as it claims, and it’s something I need a reminder to do myself. That’s why, as much as I appreciate HP for providing my ENERGY STAR rated DV2 laptop for BlogHer, I am only sharing this campaign because it is something I can honestly get behind.

Turns Out, BlogHers are Better in Real Life

I am back from my first BlogHer, and let me tell you…it was quite an experience. It had to be, if I haven’t blogged for a whole week because I’ve been so busy. I never thought that I could so enjoy spending nearly 5 days with more than 1000 women, but I loved every second of it.

hummingbird-bookend1It’s been a while since I’ve featured a fabulous, bird-themed find, but the lovely ladies over at TheGreenGirls have given me an excuse :)   Who could possibly ignore these beautiful hummingbird bookends? I love the “invisible” look of the birds attached to the books. If you’re trying to figure out how it works, a steel sheet is hidden inside the cover of the first and last books in your set, and the birds work their magnetic magic.

I have a plan to put some open shelving in my mother’s living room, and I can just envision a stack of hard cover books with these babies at the ends. Lovely!
